Newbie to the forum here - well, sort of. Hehe.. Been following this forum for some time now & finally had the courage to start an account. Sorry I haven't had the time to finish up my profile yet. But I'm eager to meet, talk with & hopefully get some sound & solid advice with the issues I'm faced with ATM.
Never been into any of the illicit stuff (though I think I've done my fair share of experimenting in my younger days ~ LoL) but am being prescribed some very serious narcotic/opiate pain management meds that I'm finding more & more complications with having to use on a daily basis. Currently I'm on a rather reduced dosage of the various meds I'm on, but have been prescribed everything from morphine to hydromorphone & demerol to dilaudid & just about everything in between. Sadly that was also during the time that we (the Dr's & I) found that I have an acute/severe anaphylactic allergic reaction to around ~95% of all the normally prescribed meds that are used in the US. I even stopped breathing & almost died in the recovery room after a VERY LENGTHY 14hr surgical procedure (from an allergic reaction to the morphine drip I was hooked up to) We think that the ones I'm NOT having issues & bad reactions with are the synthetic/partial synthetic derivatives of these medications.
Does anyone else on here have any of these types of problems? I feel like I'm running outta options & could really use some good advice & suggestions at this point.
Well, at any rate... Reeaally happy to have finally taken the step to register on here & hopefully make a few friends & maybe even find a plausible solution or two.
My sincerest thanx to everybody on here that's made this great forum what it is now. For me, your forum as well as its members, are a godsend :)
 
Hey there welcome to bluelight!!

I myslef just got over almost a decade of prescription pill abuse and heroin abuse after I got cut off the meds. I've never heard of somebody being allergic to synthetic opiates but I guess you could be allergic to anything.
Sorry I don't know what yo say except you will most likely just need to stick with meds that you arnt allergic to not much else could be done really unless they can cure your allergies which I doubt.

I am sorry to hear of your pain issue - and hope that you can find the help / advice you need.

I am unsure of where your locality (and please don't give that you have to tell us if you do not wish to!) so encase you would like to talk with people within your locality, who may know of services that could be of some benefit to you, here are links of all of them.

I would also advise you to read the Greenlighter's Guide Greenlighter's Guide [/URL] and the rules known as the BLUA (Bluelight User Agreement) because they protect us members as well as the site. For instance; one of the rules is no sourcing, if a member had not read the rules and discusses sourcing, then they may receive a warning or whatever, and if they had have read the rules, they would have avoided receiving, eg a warning.

If you are unsure of where to place a thread please put it into the Homeless Threads sub-forum and someone will move it to the appropriate place for you.

Hey thanx guys, big time! I'll deffinately get started on those threads asap. From just browsing over them, it looks like a great starting point for me.
Yeah, kinda a weird thing to be allergic to such a broad array of meds (all opiates, except just a couple of the partial/full synthetic ones). Even weirder, was the fact that it sorta developed into this huge spectrum of allergies over a fairly long & gradual process & time. At first my only allergy was to morphine. Then about a year later it was all morphine based drugs & ones that had that same basic active substance. Then moved on to the codeine based series & then all the rest. Right now I seem to only have a mild reaction to OxyContin & fentanyl patches. But those patches are serious mojo (I had been prescribed the 100mcg's) & was harder for me to stop using then even the OxyContin. So now I'm on a kinda low dose of the OxyContin for now. Just trying to find out if maybe there's anything I could do to augment the effects of this to equal what was in those patches, or even better - find another medication (hopefully synthetic based) to ask my doctor to prescribe for me. Hehe, okay, maybe just get near the same level pain relief. Those patches worked well, but they were just too strong. & even moreso addictive.
Oh well. Anyhows, thanx again guys. Really appreciate the warm welcome & will get farther into those suggestions (& all those threads) ASAP :)
 
Hey Evey & Cap'n, much thanx for the warm welcome. Sorry it took me a bit longer then usual to reply (& my sincere appology to Evey, I must've just missed you're post, right before my last one. LoL~ sorry about that. My thumbs tend to move a bit faster then my brain sometimes). Hehe.. Had to get my son & I off to soccer practice yesterday, then he sorta monopolized the rest of the evening with some serious homework he's been needing a bit of help with for an upcoming school project. Hahaha, this is my very 1st year being a "single dad" & lemme tell ya - things like that can seriously put a damper on having ones own down time to relax & enjoy (or even recuperate~LoL).
Anyhow's.. My thanx & aloha for the kind words of welcome & hope to be a serious contributor to this awesome forums site, one day soon ;)

& For anyone whose still just "browsing" this forum... I warmly welcome you to join us. Become a part of this (& our) most awesome family. I can't stress enough that by making friends here, you'll never be truly alone. The genuine feeling of love, care & compassion is something VERY unique to this forums site. From the very starting point of which you become a new & curious member of our family, you will forever be a part of us. There are soo many people here with the genuine desire to help others, you can't help but feel that warm fuzzy feeling of "belonging" somewhere. Someplace where they understand you, yet won't judge you. & In this day & age...

Bluelight is an ace place to be; full of helpful, supportive people who are knowledgeable with harm reduction and various substances. I, myself, have been here almost eight months - and find it to be the best forum by far. BL has not just helped me with my addiction but with other aspects of my life. Although it's a drugs forum its very much helpful in other ways too, in my opinion.

aaaww I'm so sooo happy your back. I can't even begin to explain how seriously bummed/upset I got :( about not getting the chance to even say hello back & to meet one of my biggest/most memorable role-models & inspirations. Hehe, I think maybe trains & some of the guys were starting to get (at least a little) annoyed with how much I've been mentioning & asking about you.
Oh yeah... I'm really sorry I didn't reply til just now. Yesterday afternoon/evening we (my son & I) had a totally exhaustive day at soccer practice & were barely able to drag our (_!_)'s home & order pizza :P ~ LoL
Anyhows.. So, how are ya doing??? I hope you're doing well & things are okay for ya on that side o' the world. Hahaha, I'm STILL sooo stoked & hyped to know that our Evey is back, that I'm literally smiling from ear to ear right now - & haven't even had my 1st cup o' coffee of they day yet:) Ya know I still very much need to read about that firey attitude & sense of determination that we all know you for (well, at least we, as in: my "generation of newbies" do~hehe). Lol I've never met anybody quite as happy as you I don't think haha I can tell your young at heart.
I wasn't getting annoyed just laughing at how happy you always are haha
