SWIM and me had a very nice conversation this new years eve. Oddly enough the topic of 215 cards (California Medical Marijuana Prescriptions) and its effect on employment. Does it really provide a hindrance to employment opportunities as SWIM pointed out? Does it really prohibit one from serving the state as a teacher or lawyer?

From the NORMAL website.

"The California Supreme Court has ruled that employers have a right to drug test and fire patients who test positive for marijuana, regardless of their medical use (Ross v RagingWire, 2008). Some employers will excuse patients if they present a valid 215 recommendation. Others won’t. Marijuana is never permitted in jobs with federal drug testing regulations, such as the transportation industry."

It sounds like any employer can let you go for using medical marijauna even with a 215 card. These would be especially true for any federally regulated industry.
