Hi everyone! Name is Rika and I live in the Midwest. Ok so...er..these introductions are always awkward.

Basically I am here due to being completely lost. I have chronic depression and anxiety (diagnosed years ago) and have been given a ton of different drugs - I am currently settled on Seroquel (for sleep) and Lexapro. I also take Vitamin D daily. Therapy-wise, I go to DBT group therapy for Borderline Personality, an EMDR therapist, and a sexual health therapist (for past...relationship issues). I weight lift 5 days a week for around an hour and stretch every night. I eat well (specific Protein, Carbs, Fat each day). I play D&D and am also a PC gamer. I have a degree in graphic design and am currently unemployed but will have a job soon enough (no worries there :D).

So yeah, here I am....doing well, doing all the things that are suggested to help me heal and somehow I am still behind. I am still struggling a great deal every day with my mental health. I would like to make a post for OTC meds/supplements suggestions for my mental health - so if you could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it!

Anyway, I am really happy to be here and hope to learn a lot (and maybe to help some others along the way). Thank you so much for having me!

Greetings Rika - welcome to Bluelight!

Depression is a tough battle to fight. Know that you're not alone, and the community at BL is very helpful.

I urge you to check out our Mental Health sub-forum, where you can talk about MI and meds. I too have an MI as well as a personality disorder, so hit me up via PM if you ever want to talk :). Also, you may be interested in Healthy Living, where you can talk about lifting and other healthy times of activities.

See you around and good luck.

Hey Rika, welcome to Bluelight :)

Nice intro. You really do sound like someone with a plan, and you seem to be doing all the right things.

When you trace persistent depressive thoughts back to their origin, I think people often discover that despite doing all the right stuff, it's the lack of deeper meaning and purpose to their lives that's behind a lot of it.

Sadly no amount of therapy or drugs will ever really give you that insight into your purpose because there is literally no 'answer' :( We have to make up our own reasons in such a way that we really believe them.

This usually involves a process of acceptance of a lot of shitty or unwanted things in life and about ourselves and our personalities that we don't realise we really don't want to accept.

If you can figure out what they are, by unpicking a lot of subconscious thought habits formed during your life, then you can at least become aware of them and try to "let go" of the resistance to accepting them.

And sometimes that can be a helpful way to alleviate some of the depression :)

Good luck!!
