Hello bluelighters,
A friend referred me here and I'm glad I finally signed up. I feel very fortunate to have found a forum/site like this where we can freely share information otherwise suppressed and censored by today's governments and private interests. "helpful" pharmaceuticals have dramatically altered my natural health, opening my eyes to how things really work. I'm looking everywhere I can for answers. I'd love to get to know as many bluelighters as possible and be of help to others in any way I can.
I enjoy cannabis, find it medically beneficial and simply fascinating.
I enjoy psylocybes a few times per year as well, especially while in the woods. (feels like its about time again, you know how that goes ;) )
I do not enjoy the various pharmaceuticals prescribed to me over the last 7 years ( no benefits to this day).
I hope to share with other bluelighters in their experiences, especially with Anti depressants. Here to give and receive support/advice.

What brings me here is the recent and severe decay of my health courtesy of anti depressants pushed upon me by Americas "behavioral health" industry. This is where I need some direction on where to look/post (I have read the venlafaxine withdrawal archived thread.)
I stopped taking my SNRI anti depressent approx 9 months ago after slowly tapering with success. However at the last dose I found myself unable to quit without the withdrawal symptoms being too severe, but I discontinued anyways as the psychiatrist said it was safe.
I have not been the same since. I will post the full details in the proper section of forums.

A seasoned cannabis user, I've grown increasingly troubled by the American medical communities disregard for the endocannabinoid system.
I've had psychiatrists put me on Anti depressants and anti psychotics while telling me there is no such thing as our endocannabinoid system when discussing my MJ use.
I've sat in offices with licensed psychiatrists who say they don't know what delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol is, but could say " Marijuana contains THC, it is the active ingredient in marijuana that induces paranoia, anxiety, etc.". Same psychiatrists admitted to not knowing what cannabinoids are when I used the term.
So, I am disturbed. A place like this offers some solace.
I've been dealing with the bullshit of dishonest psychiatrists for 7 years now and its severely impacted my health.
Specifically, these psychiatrist lied and told me as a young adult that I will have to be on an anti depressant SNRI for the rest of my life and that there are no potential side efffects. They even ventured to say that FDA disclosures are "overly cautious statements required by law but are of no real concern". ( the FDA has since increased the warnings, the medicine now black box warning)

I am here today because I find myself in the same boat many find themselves in after 6 years taking the anti depressant venlafaxine.
The venlafaxine originally prescribed for a mild episode of depression and "Generalized anxiety" began to lose its perceived positive effect after a couple monnths. The side effects increased in number and severity over the years and I now feel completely ruined even after stopping the venlafaxine.
One of the most troubling things is cannabis no longer interacts with my system the same since discontinuing the venlafaxine.
At this point I'm looking around for physicians who acknowledge the damages caused by anti depresseants and the potential impacts of withdrawal. My only other hope is whatever advice/experiences I may encounter on sites like this.
Thanks to those of you who've taken the time to read this.
Anyone feel free to weigh in, point me in the right direction. I'm hoping especially to find those who've been through the exact same thing and how/if they recovered.

Where should I start a separate 'official' detailed thread about the venlafaxine discontinuation, array of symptoms and odd change in MJ interaction?
Guidance is much appreciated. Glad to be here!

welcome, and while i cant offer a direct answer, i would like to reassure you that the brain and by extension human body is an incredibly resilient thing. i have experienced similar issue brought on by ssri's and discontinuing use, and can say that the phrase 'time heals all wounds' certainly applies here. im not saying there is nothing you can do to help in the mean time, im just not sure personally. you could probably find people with more answers to this by starting a thread in either other drugs or advanced drug discussion. but your brain will continue to rewire the pathways that the antidepressants changed and you will get better :)
sorry if that wasnt as helpful as you were hoping, but stay positive!

I too have noticed psychiatrists are notoriously anti-cannabis. It's very tragic.

I however, enjoy living in a medical marijuana state where at least some doctors are more well informed.

Welcome to Bluelight, and I wish you the best in your recovery from SNRI post-withdrawal syndrome.
