I used to post here quite regularly in my heavy using days, over 10 years ago. I was an opiate addict in start and height of the oxycontin years. I would rail 80s like nothing. Lead to rehab, methadone, Suboxone, all that. Over 10 years opiate free now. Cannabis and mushrooms is all I touch these days. Have a house, wife and family, life is good! Interested in reading stories and staying up to date with the real world of psychoactive substances which is why I came back! This site is such a wealth of information

Welcome back! I too used to do hard drugs all that you mentioned and more was even IV user for a few years. I ended up on subs for 5 years too long and quit a year ago. Started getting into stims as my DOC cuz my O receptors were fried up until three months ago I transitioned to kratom and only use that cannabis and like you the occasional psychedelic.

I just thought I mention it bc we have walked similiar paths as far as drugs go minus the kratom.

Definitely man, I never tried kratom, I look at it sometimes it seems interesting I'm just too afraid to get addicted to it so I won't try.

That’s a responsible way of looking at it. To be honest for me and this is strictly for me and my experience that I can speak on - kratom does not give me that true opiate feeling. I can definitely take it or leave it. It gives me a mild mood lift and energy/focus. I don’t ever get the nods or warm feeling or outright euphoria.

I really think this is due to all my years of opiate abuse and being on subs for 5 years really fried my receptors figuratively. So for me, it’s more like drinking 4-5 cups of coffee at once without the jitters. That’s the best way I can describe it.

That said many do get addicted to it. I just feel like if you have a severe opiate history and your tolerance is to the point that it just tickles your receptors enough to give a lift that it is hard to get addicted to for people like me. I’d equate the addictive potential for me to that of coffee. And I’ve even done the reverend OPMS Black shots with like 370mg mit. I still didn’t get anything other than what I’m describing here: mood lift/energy. It was actually too much. When I take too much I get irritable asf and I hate it. I don’t usually do extracts tho. Just about 5-6 grams a dose.

It is good to be cautious tho and if you already feel fulfilled in your life then why change it right?

I use it as a hark reduction because it keeps my stimulant addiction at bay. Not the best thing to do I know, but man I’m just not ready to be completely sober. I just want to be functional and stay away from the hard stuff and pharmaceuticals as well. Maybe this will change when I can do cannabis again. Currently trying to get a new job so kinda have to be clean from that but I love it. Cannabis was my first love.

In the end, I wouldn’t recommend it for you because you seem to be living a happy life and seem to be content. Last thing I’d want is to trigger a relapse into harder shit which can be a risk depending on how long you been off opiates. Ten years could be long enough to get opiate receptors reset so yeah maybe not a good idea.
