Hello fellow Bluelighters. I'm new to your collective as of an hour ago.

I'm a Publicist by trade, amongst other things, working primarily in the entertainment industry. I've have the good fortune to work with some very high-profile people. I recently moved from north Florida to west central Florida (Pinellas County to be precise).

I've had my share of experimenting with drugs in my younger years. I am pretty sure I've tried it all at one time or another, except acid. But that side of me died off nearly two decades ago around the age of 20. In other words, I won't judge any of you for your vices. It's not my place. And I'm really not a judgmental person. :)

That said, I have a series of medical problems that have been controlled by primary care physicians starting in 2005 using prescription pain killers and other non opiate medications. The main medication I take to control my pain is Norco, but unfortunately because I recently moved to the area I have been without my medication for a couple months. I had my first appointment with a new primary doctor today, and I asked him to write me a courtesy refill until I could get placed with a specialist if he didn't feel comfortable managing that medication. Needless to say, he was vehemently opposed to the use of any form of narcotic pain reliever and really put on more of a show, like he was grandstanding in a way 8(. So I politely placated his ego and left so as to not ruffle any feathers in my new hometown. I feel it is important to note that I do not abuse my medications. I am allowed three pain pills per day, when I have my medicine that is, and I take the pain medication when needed.... when the pain is almost intolerable since waiting till the pain is intolerable nearly renders the medication ineffective. So on average I take 1 1/2 to 2 per day instead of the full 3. Again, when I have it.

My aim for this site is to help anyone that I can, but to also find out if anyone knows of any primary care doctors in my area that aren't afraid to help their patients. Or if that is not possible, perhaps some insight on how I can find such a doctor since I have never had problems getting my pain medication until today. :?

Respectfully,

The Undertaker

My Other post - need help finding a real doctor - was removed/closed since it was interpreted as sourcing, which I still do not quite understand how that is. Anyway, I will pm you tomorrow since it seems I can only send 1 Pm message every 180 minutes.

I am merely hoping to get some insight on how to find a true doctor, which seems much harder now, not to buy or sell medication. Perhaps this new doctor's mentality has to do with stricter regulation, but logically not every doctor is like the one I encountered yesterday. If my intentions make sense and you can offer insight, I would appreciate your guidance.

I'll message you tonorrow. I'm bout at the point where I pass out from pain.... My natural pain reliever I look forward to every night/morning.

what kind of doctor? do you have insurance?

if you have state-sponsored insurance, or private insurance, you should be able to call member services on your membership card, and then get a referene

if you're NOT in the US, go to an ER; if you're in a first world country (UK, germany, australia, etc) with nationalized health care

Forgot to include this in PM: a primary care physician (pcp). Same kind I've always used. My conditions were never interpreted to be so severe to warrant pain management.

Welcome! I'm pretty new here as an active member, but have been reading the site for sometime. Depending on your area, and if you are truly in need of meds, you should be able to find multiple pain management doctors. GL!
