I signed up idk how long ago but haven't posted yet: I have a drug using history of 15 years & an injecting history of 14 1/2 years. Been on methadone for 10 years and whacking it for most of that time. Managed to get a nursing degree and have always been a very safe injector however I have messed up from time to time.

Came here today to get advice on one of those mess ups. Please refer to my post in the iv complication thread!

Hi, yeah Australia is a pretty good place to live in. I mean just from the point of view of a drug user we have free health care and mostly free injection supplies! I wouldn't be able to be half as safe if not for that. E.g - butterflies are free and I could go through up to 15 just trying to find a vein if it was a really bad day. And micron filters, well they're a dollar each but I haven't had a dirty hit since I started using them!

That's great news!

Where I live, my state doesn't have any needle exchanges. The one closest to me is a 3 hours drive away. :(

I would really like to live in Australia but I think I'm going to settle for a much better state in the US instead.

I just wish that the US would follow Australia's example in having exchanges distributed evenly throughout the country.
