Hello-this all new to me... I have never joined one of these before but I do alot of reading about imformation
About ways to help alviate symptoms for opiate withdrawls. I have been taking painkillers for about 2years now and it all started when I hate foot surgery. I had never taking any pain killers until I had this surgery. Long story short is once I felt w/d symptoms I haven't quit taking them. I Tryed to switch from hydrocodone, oxycodone, roxys to methadone- I liked methadone and thought I could kick the habit by taking those and when I Tryed to quit my w/d symptoms were way worse with methodone than it was with hydrocodone... I have been to treatment a few times and it was only for a few weeks but I'm having such a hard time sticking to it and staying off. so tomorrow I am going to start the lopermide hcl pills an see how that works.. I have heard alot of positive things about it and I'm just praying that this will help me to... if anyone has any advise and anything else that may help me kick this habit I would greatly appreciate it. need help and support. Feel very alone with this stupid addiction.

this is great that you continue to keep working at your addiction/dependency in hopes to get beyond it!!

which opiate/opioid have you been currently using, methadone?? also what has your typical daily dosing been lately? lopermide will help, is this the only form of medication support that you are planing on?

be good to kind of get a feel of where you are at with your use right now and go from there.... .

seems like you have the will to keep fighting and working at this and that is what it will continue to take once you have broke through withdrawal into PAWS and beyond. you can do it!! let me know whats, what with the above and i will try to give you some advise based around your situation.

I'm currently back on hydrocodone 10mg and I'm taking about 15 a day... thank you for your support I need that:-) I have some clonidine ( blood pressure) medicine but I hate taking that- it makes me so dizzy. but so I have the doptrimide and I have robutussin to- I also have gabapentin which ill use with all that to- I'm going to try this tomorrow but not sure how many I should take of the doptrimide 2 mg and robutussin - gosh I really hope this works because I hate taking these dang pain killers- but any suggestions and help on my situation would be great:-) thanks for your response...

hey!!

it is all about support and you deserve it for wanting to keep fighting and opening up!

well i am glad to hear it is not methadone!! we both know how that go's.... buuuuur ... shivers..

are you under the care of a doctor right now and are they working with on this?? do you get your hydrocodone and will you be getting the lopermide from the same doc or are you the doc? wondering too if you are planing on decreasing your hydro over a spot of time or are planing on starting detox/withdrawal from the point you are currently at??

i hear you about the clonidine i have used it in the past, i had .1 and .2's... try to use them for when you want to sleep (as they make you dizzy:)) they will also help with the jitters in your hands and legs as you rest. the gabapentin will be a great aid in helping you with aches/pains and anxiety. i would use it during the day.. but you need to see how it makes you feel. personally i would only use the dxm(robitussin) at night for sleep. the lopermide you are getting will help your tummy and all around... epsom salt baths are nice and soothing will help with aches/pains/tension/sleep. lots of fluids, potassium, magnesium, good multi vitamin, vitamin b complex are a few more things that could help aid you. i always had to have ice cream too!

you already have some really good things in line to help you enter this awesome, empowering journey!! are you able to take some down time for a few days - a week if you plan on straight detoxing??

it is to your advantage that you know what is coming and that you have battled it before, really great knowledge to have on your side!! focus on the positive aspect that you can and will make it through this in bettering yourself and riding you of this burden you so desire to depart from. souls all mighty! you can do it! no more killer pains from the pain killers.. ....

Hello- I write earlier but for some reason it didn't post so I get my pills fro a friend who doesn't take them anymore but the script ran out and I'm on my own for now that's why I'm trying these loptimide pills with the gabapentin and so far I'm doing ok... I have Tryed getting on a waiting list for suboxone but I have already been on the list for 2 months now so I'm being my own doctor for now:-( I'm trying to stay positive. my doctor won't prescribe me any opiates because she knows I have a problem so that's why I get them from other people that I know. But I hate having to worry about getting pills. It's so stressful and I hate living that way.it makes me grumpy... Lol. so did you use to take pain killers to? if so how did you go about it to stay clean?

I have thought about going to NA meetings but for some reason I'm scared to go- have you every gone to a meeting?

so.. . how has day one been/gone?? you hanging tough? i bet you are!

it is very tiering and stressful to be caught in the constant cycle of trying/counting/thinking continuously about your medication /"fix". if you can get past this without using suboxone that would be awesome.. cause at some point as you know you will have to deal with trying to get off that just like you did with methadone.

it is not bad that you are being your own doc as it seems like you know a thing or two in the items you prepared to help aid you in withdrawal. nice work! have you talked with your regular doctor about wanting to deal with your opiate dependency?? if so what were her thoughts? kind of curious.

what has your dosing been like with medications you currently have.. you feel like you have a good plan in place with them for the next week or so? any concerns?

yes.. i too have dealt with opiate/opioid addiction over the years.. i have been on a host of them- heroin, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, buprenorphine.. man.. ughhhh. i am really happy to say i am opiate free right now it is the longest time i have been abstinent from them in 8+ years. it has been a up and down battle over the years.. no matter if i have been my doctor or working with doctors. i have always been honest with any medical professionals i have had to deal with. my main dr. right now even suggested going back on to methadone tabs for pain management i was not into it as i just knew where i was going to end up. being "clean" is something i have struggled with over the years but i have just kept working towards it and learning about myself and my addiction as i have gone. for me like many it has been a process, a process that will have to always to worked at. the word clean i still struggle with at times because i still take medication for cp issues but like i said at this time being a non-opiate patient or user has been wonderful. i had to go through a very, very tough withdrawal this past winter from the different prescriptions i wanted to stop taking. to try to not only work on my recovery more but to try repair receptor sites and see where pain/anxiety levels would fall. i only used opiates since for a week during march after a surgery. i know i might slip again but am not worried about that just each day as it comes and the more time passes the easier it is and the better i feel!!

you can get past this hick-up in your life, it will always be a part of you and something to be very proud in confronting and owning! you will/are doing great!

i have gone to NA.. it is for some people and not for others but i think you should for sure check it out. you might meet some people you connect with and can share your experiences with. just because you go to a meeting doesn't mean you have to practice NA (12-steps) if it resonates with you then by all means get down with it. there is also a program called SMART it is a different formate... might be also something to check out and see if there are meetings in you area. www.smartrecovery.org/

hope your doing well.. feeling positive!! keep making steps toward your goal... you will do great!!

Welcome to Bluelight! :)

I'm really sorry to hear you're struggling. I hope you find the strength to get through this!

STOP WITH THE METHADONE. Switching back and forth between a bunch of different painkillers is throwing your tolerance and dependance all around and out of wack - and on top of that, methadone has the WORST withdrawals by far out of all the substances you mentioned. It's terrible.

I would recommend stabilizing on the weakest opiate you can get your hands on, at the lowest possible dose for a few days. Then use loperamide HCL like you mentioned - it really does work well! Don't be fooled however, there is no way to get out of this debacle pain free. It sucks, but you HAVE to do it. The longer you wait, the harder and more painful it will get for you. You're going to need to take several times the recommended dose on the box for the loperamide by the way, and either buy Immodium AD or generic loperamide hcl pills ONLY! THE ONLY active ingredient should be Loperamide HCL. There are brands with other active ingredients which can actually increase stomach discomfort! Be careful. Take 6 pills to start, +2 every hour. It will help a lot, like I said, but you will still be in some amount of pain.

Also, I can't give you advice without also telling you to speak with a doctor about this! Speak to your regular physician, and be honest! You'll be surprised how much he can help if you tell him whats up.. He should be able to prescribe other prescriptions such as clonidine, gabapentin, and maybe a sleep aid such as trazadone. These will all help you get over the hump.

As mentioned in the post above, Give NA or AA a shot! Meetings have SAVED MY LIFE! DO NOT be put off by the mention of "God". I don't believe in a typical god, and neither do the MAJORITY of my friends from the fellowship! Your higher power can be whatever you want. The meetings itself can be your higher power! it's that simple, so don't over complicate things! If you have any questions about 12 step/recovery meetings or alternative recovery groups to 12 step, PLEASE PM ME! I would be happy to answer any questions!

I sincerely wish you the best of luck! I hope you find the answers and support you need. Stay strong and don't use! :)
