south florida for now....
So the other day my girlfriend and i were out driving around and were pulled over by a narcotics agent. We were both detained at the scene of the "crime" while this guy searched our car. Long story short he found our bag containing our syringes and a couple spoons. One of these spoons contained a cotton with oxycodone residue on it. Since it was under her seat and the car is registered to her name the narc verbally charged her with possession of oxycodone... a felony. However he did not arrest her or myself for that matter (he had nothing on me anyway). Instead he offered her a chance to "work off" her charges.... he wanted her to roll over on her dealer. He said she would not be taken to jail if she agreed to call him by 5pm tomorrow evening where he would take her thru the process of becoming a snitch. If she does not call he will then take the evidence he collected (the spoon with the residue in it) and issue a felony warrant for her arrest. I think this guy is full of shit. The simple fact that she wasnt arrested for a felony charge in the first place seems like he didnt really have anything solid on her anyway. I grew up in this area but i have been away for quite a few years and am not really up to date on the current drug laws. it just seems to us that no one gets to just walk away from a felony possession charge like that with nothing but a promise to call the agent. not even so much as a ticket or a summons. Anyway she is supposed to call him tomorrow so if anyone sees this tonite or at all really i would appreciate yer input or advice and so would she. Thanks for yer help.

#1: Get a lawyer.

#2: Snitching will not prevent the cops from going after your girlfriend. Even if it did, what happens when her dealer gets out of jail?

For the safety of all parties involved, I would take you and your girlfriend to a lawyer. I would learn your rights, so as to not let this happen again.

Finally, do not post about this on the forums. This can put your freedom in jeapordy sadly. Only talk to the lawyer 1 on 1 and go from there.

Unless you have a deal with the district attorney in writing, whatever the cops say is meaningless.
