Why hello there. The names Aurielle. Ive made good use of this site in the past year or so and finally decided the day has come for me to make an account. Im 20 yrs old and love to daber in the occasional substance, particularly MDMA. I do my drugs in a safe way and try to make sure I know all that i can about the substance I'm "abusing". (for a better lack of term) Anyways, I can't wait to jump on in and get to know people and start posting :) Nice to meet you

Welcome! Nice to meet you too. I like your demeanor. You should fit around here perfectly. :)

Welcome to Bluelight!

"Abusing" for lack of a better term, indeed.

I don't think that it's fair to call someone addicted to something they biologically require to live a healthy/happy life. In fact, no human being is a water/food addict, as we all require water and food to survive.

It would be equally callous to call someone a sex addict, and IMO, I think drug addiction isn't really an addiction.

If drug addiction was totally unnecessary for someone's survival (something I hope to prove false here shortly) then one could be a drug addict and "abuse" drugs.

However, I think drug use/abuse is necessary for some human's survival. Using CB-1 agonists/partial agonists such as THC, you get high/"stoned". But what happens with CB-1 antagonists? They will block the effects of THC. How about CB-1 inverse agonists? VERY interesting.

CB-1 Inverse Agonism....

leads to less drug re-dosing for heroin/cocaine/meth addicts (drug addicts in general). WHY? I think when you start becoming addicted to drugs, you'll start having anandamide agonize CB-1 receptors. Hence, without having to smoke weed, hard drugs will begin to down-stream stimulate CB-1 receptors through the eventual release of anandamide when it's a "perfect time to redose"; you get that "UGH I want to redose" feeling. Why is that? IMO, because the anandamide is not released in a large enough quantity to make you feel relieved but literally it's just enough to tickle the CB-1 receptor. As it's being tickled as a down-stream effect of dosing heroin/cocaine/meth (or any addictive drug), it causes the user to "itch" at this tickle by re-dosing a drug, the individual assumes more CB-1 tickling through anandamide (or another endogenous CB-1 agonist/partial agonist) will satiate the drug craving.

WHEN in reality, it only causes more "itching" i.e. relapsing.

WHAT ELSE happens during CB-1 antagonism? Well quite frankly, not being hungry, increased short term memory, and psychological disturbances such as suicidal ideation.

Now... WHY is that? We don't know fully yet but MY GUESS is that.... drug addiction is an evolutionary thing for human beings. I believe being stoned, or high on drugs, keeps us in between the real world (where we have increased short term memory) and in the "stoned/nodding world" where we are really focusing away from reality. When heroin users nod, often their eyes are droopy and they're imagining a dream world.... nodding normally does not entail cleaning one's kitchen.

Anyways, this is a nice balance between no short term memory, and perfect short term memory. Being 100% entrapped in the real world is DEPRESSING and hence why many of us become enthused to become stoned, high, etc. in other words, what I'm getting at, is that drug "addict"ion is necessary and not an addiction at all.

NOT ALL of us MUST be drug addicts, that is not what I'm saying... what I'm getting at is that people are HAPPY to RESERVE the right to be drug addicts. They are, they are happy to do so. They are EQUALLY happy getting addicted to drugs, going through withdrawal, and then not having any drugs to do... but THEY ARE NOT happy if you TAKE AWAY THEIR RESERVATION to become a drug addict in the real world.

Someone might say CH, this sounds way too hedonistic to be true; you're saying I'm happy reserving the right to be a drug addict one day. Well I don't believe you, I don't WANT to be a drug addict. I'm going to start on Rimonabant.

To them, I would say, when you go on Rimonabant, and eventually end up with unlisted "psychologal disturbances" aside from or in addition to suicidal ideation, you'll eventually realize that I was right, you were happier RESERVING the right to become a heroin/meth/coke/whatever addict one day, and are ACTUALLY LESS HAPPY if your RESERVATION to be a drug addict is taken away from you.

WHY? Eating and sex, among other life activities, will no longer release anandamide. Or it will but rimonabant will block anandamide and other endogenous full/partial agonists at CB-1.

So in short, drug use is a evolutionary means for human beings to keep themselves perfectly balanced in the "spiritual/nodding/stoned" world, and the real world, and without this RESERVATION to become a drug "addict" OR actually BEING a drug "addict", people are not happy and eventually succumb to suicidal depression.

Where does that leave me? well, you're either getting clean or being a drug addict, right? Getting clean means you're working your way back to sobriety so that you can still RESERVE your right to be a drug addict, without actually being one. THIS IS NOT a bad thing!!! It's great to live a sober life, knowing at any moment, you can use drugs if you need to. It's just an even greater feeling to know you can do life WITHOUT the drugs, and know that the drugs are THERE if you ever need them.

Having the drugs, but being on rimonabant to the point where you don't WANT the drugs, WILL make you depressed. This is why they took rimonabant off the market as an obesity treatment in Europe; it was never approved by the FDA in the United States.

</end rant>
