Healthy tea: cannabis alternative help

Hello everyone and thank you for reading this. Im new and sorry if this is in the wrong section, if it isnt ill be happy if it is moved :) Ok i know alot of you are gonna say nothings like pot so just buy it, but heres my thing. Im not looking to get high or trip or anything. I used to use it as a sleep aid and relaxer. But i got a girlfreind and she wanted me to quit it took me alittle over 6 months to fully quit but now the cravings are back and i want them gone. I DONT WANT TO SMOKE. That was a big thing also, smoking. i dont wanna to do it.

Now to move on. Is there anything tahts a relaxantly and/or maybe a sleep aid thats not as strong or like cannabis where you get high but stronger than chamomile? I love tea so my main goal is to find something that i can steep into a tea without and extraction or w.e that will help me with reducing stress, relaxing, and maybe help with sleeping. The sleeping is the huge part because if i get relaxed and less stressful i can sleep better.

So please dont say just get pot because she doesnt want me to do drugs, i dont want to do drugs, and i dont want to smoke, even though i know pot doesnt have to be smoked it can be vaped, eaten, and so on. Is there anything i can do THATS LEGAL?

I dont know alot about them but ive been told datura, wild dagga, blue lotus. I havent really done alot of research except some on erowid.org but all i remember was one was like a hallucinogen and im not looking to get high or trip just to relax and calm down. Thank you sooo much

However you will not stop the urge to smoke up/ingest ganja, you say you stopped because of her? Maybe you still wanna use it...Which is OK, but as long as you don't abuse it. Habitually smoking to just go to sleep is stupid - one of hte worst habits, as I have heard it's very hard to break away from. You have done so, so why are you still feeling the urge? Because you liked getting high, and chilling out.

Nothing wrong with that. You say "please don't just say more pot because SHE doesn't want me to do drugs..." - what if YOU DO?! I know you say you don't but you obviously do, is she really gonna see it differently if you're doing legal drugs instead? If so, then you should start with the ganja again - don't bow down to her, as it is evidently not working for you.
 
^ I agree with this. If you think that smoking cannabis is good for you, then don't change for another person. If you feel that maybe having illegal substances inside you isn't in your best interest, then change for yourself.

My mom wanted my step-dad to quit smoking weed and he "promised" her that he wouldn't have it anywhere near the house. I know it's a lie, but I can't help but see his stance. He wants to do it so why should he quit for someone else?

How long have you two been together, OP? Maybe you can base your decision on the solidity of your relationship.
 
Kava kava tea gives me a nice, relaxing "high," perfect for evenings. Kinda social.
 
You told me not, to but im going to say it. GET STONED MAN! This crap is going to create some inner conflict inside yourself.

Why not have a couple alchoholic drinks to calm down and relax. Thats what most people do in the evening time when trying to relax.
 
Someone recommended Rhodiola Rosea in a thread a few weeks ago and I finally got around to trying it. What a freakin trip that stuff is. It's a mild MAOI (so take diet restrictions seriously) but packs a serious punch and the comedown is nice. Took one in the morning this past weekend and had neverending energy all day long but at nightfall I was able to get to sleep hours earlier than I "normally" do. If I had to deny myself the herb this stuff would definitely be what I'd fall back on.

As for valerian and chamomille I've found that taking that stuff at night can help me get to sleep but also makes me drowsier in the morning. The morning after Rhodiola feels like a nice acid afterglow. Ahhh.. refreshing :)
 
Ok i see your points. In a way i do, but ultimately i dont want to get high and she was the push that helped me stop. I did use it recreationally i guess but my main thing was to reduce stress. But now i dont wanna smoke even if i was with her or if i wasnt. we have been together a year and 3 months now so im definatly not going to pick a drug over her. Like i said if for some random chance we broke up i wouldnt just go back to pot or any drug. i have used valerian and didnt see/feel anything different such as like better or deeper sleep or more relaxed, ive had kava tea that i bought i think yogi and it just tasted bad. i just want to relax and fall asleep easier and deeper. So if valerian seems to be the answer how come i didnt feel or notice any different? Was i using it wrong? is there a proper way to use it.
 
Try kava again! If you get pure kava it will taste bad, but try and get kava with other ingredients too. Put lotsa honey in it, too. Kava makes me sleep amazingly.

Most of the products on the market are total shit just seeking to capitalize on the name-recognition of the product and the placebo effect. There are quality valerian and kava products on the market but you won't find them for a few bucks at a grocery store or walgreens. The only products available (the 2 mentioned) that are truly potent enough to produce the effects I suspect you're seeking would taste foul in tea form and/or require massive amounts. If I was you, I'd buy a product with standardized kavalactones and/or valeric/valerenic acid and find a suitable dose gradually titrating your doses up and just have some tea that you enjoy on the side. I use both valerian and kava extracts but I greatly prefer the latter over the former however it's about twice the price for good preparations.

If you do go the route of the kava, try to find pills or tinctures with the highest kavalactone content and I'd start around 300mg and titrate up. I usually use about 600-800mg of kavalactones to relax or help me sleep.
