Hi All,

I need some advice desperately for something that is greatly affecting my life.

For the past 4 years I have been experiencing constant head tingling and head pressure.
The head tingling is a weird sensation which feels like constant small vibrations across my eye brows, all the way to the back of my scalp.

My GP told me these are anxiety symptoms and put me on paxil, then Effexor. After no change I was sent to see a neurologist, had an mri and CT scan, all found nothing.

I then saw a psychiatrist who said it could be depression and put me on Cymbalta.

First Time:

I was at work and all of a sudden I experienced a moment of complete loss of balance and had to hold on to something stable. This vertigo sensation lasted a couple more days, at random moments, but I have been having the head tingling/head pressure since.

Medication:

  • Paxil (Paroxitine) 20mg - Stayed on this for 6 months. The head tingling came every other day but it did reduce the intensity.
  • Paxil 40mg - 1 year - Basically the same as above.
  • Effexor 75mg & 150mg - No change.
  • Paxil 40mg - same as above.
  • Cymbalta 60mg - Felt the biggest relief from this, improved mood but still getting them.
  • Cymbalta 120mg - Where im at now and experiencing it bad lately.
The only thing I feel reduces these symptoms is sleep and I only attribute this to being able to rest more on the weekend's and I experience this less.

I have also been told I have jaw TMJ/TMD.
any help is MOST appreciated.

Hi Extatic, I am also experiencing the tingling/head vibrations but this is from my comedown of an untested chemical which was supposed to be mdma. My question is, have you taken any drugs before that might have resulted to this?

If you have seen a neurologist already and have gone through tests, have you also considered seeing an ENT doctor (Eyes, Nose, Throat) doctor and maybe the symptoms are related to another condition? I actually have an appointment this month to see an ENT just to keep other possibilities eliminated. What I have read about vertigo/dizziness is that this maybe a cause of a vestibular problem but I am not doctor to diagnose so maybe a good idea is to go back to your GP and ask to see if you can get an appointment with an ENT.

I have noticed when I take Lyrica or neurontin....it makes my bad tinnitus go completely away...it relaxes me and I sleep better. I thought about asking my GP if his other patients had mentioned this. The neurontin doesn't make me feel drunk at high doses like the lyrica does.

Everyone responds differently to these meds though....but they seem to work well for head buzzing.

Many thanks,

i'm seeing my dentist to get a mouth guard from the tmj.

Extremely frustrating dealing with doctors who tell me I have depression when I feel I don't :(

It can be very frustrating specially if you got tested and nothing shows up. This is the reason why I do a lot of reading these days best of luck to you.
