I am not sure about the relative effects on your immune system when you compare heroin to methamphetamine or cocaine, although it certainly seems meth and coke/crack are worse. But i do know that if you compare heroin to not using heroin, using heroin is bad for your immune system. This has been scientifically proven.
If someone says they haven't had a cold in years, it is more likely that they just haven't felt that cold, or that it is just coincidence. I got colds very frequently when I was using heroin, especially when I was only basically using enough to keep myself from getting withdrawals and not enough to mask cold symptoms. Heroin is very effective at masking cold symptoms, back when it was legal that was one of the main things it was used for. I always thought Keith Richards was making a joke when he said that, meaning that he couldn't feel colds.
