Heroin have you ever had a cold turkey wd coincide with a bad cold or flu?

JUST as I had started feeling the first dreaded effects of a cold turkey one gram per day IV heroin habit, I also noticed the telltale signs of illness - dry cracked throat and cough.

I found myself heartily wishing that I had ODed and died on my last dose. No exaggeration.
 
Yeah, all though not as extreme a habit as yours - 400mg codeine +- daily for five months - decided to CT and also happened to get a fever on top...it was probably double as bad as normal CT woulda been but nothing compared to you poor soul!
 
i think we were discussing this maybe in the suboxone megathread a week or 2 back. whether your immune system is stronger when you're on opiates or if u don't notice being sick, etc. people notice that they tend to not get sick when on opiates but get sick when they stop using them.
 
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that opiates are simply incredible at curing cold symptoms. If you think about it dry you up totally, cut out sinus pain and aches diarrhea etc.
 
it's too hard for me to tell if i actually am sick when i'm in wds cause it feels so much a like and shares too many symptoms
 
Thankfully I've never gotten sick while withdrawling but I have over medicated when sick thinking "why the hell am I still in withdrawals, oh well I'll just take more oxy". Anytime I get the chills or achy restless legs I associate them with withdrawl. Also I think that opiates are incredibly effective at masking illness so maybe you don't notice too much when you really are sick and using. I can say that I haven't been sick often since I've been using opioids. Also how do you know that your not just going through withdrawals OP? You may just be withdrawaling and procured a mere soar throat. Tbh I don't think I would be able to tell the difference unless I took a maintenance dose.
