I did a few searches, didn't really find anything. If I'm missing a thread, links appreciated :)

So who's been to some crazy haunted houses this year?! In the western New York area it looks like we have Final Fear, the Haunted Catacombs / House of horrors, and Frightworld for the big attractions, as well as the Lockport Haunted Caves, a huge corn maze, and a sizable hay ride or two.

'Final Fear' is a combination of two projects, one of which I don't know, the other being 'Dark Raven Manor'. It looks a lot more like fright world as they seem to have split dark raven manor up into three smaller haunts rather than one longer one which kind of takes away from it.. none the less it's probably the scariest attraction you're going to find and has some very high quality special effects. There is one scene where a ghost girl actually crawls out of a tv that is mind blowing, like Disney holo-technology haha. Later in 'slaughter haus' a hostel type torture complex you have to work your way through, you are treated to a well acted scene of a girl getting her head almost convincingly smashed in with a sledge hammer by a guy wearing the same gear from hostel 2 haha sick stuff! Blood spray and all haha

I haven't hit the catacombs yet this year but I hope to, it's definitely the biggest set up in the area and just one of the two main attractions can take a good half hour to walk/crawl/run through haha. It's been around for like 20 years I think and was the first house I remember going to when I was maybe 8 years old. Though they may not have quite the extreme quality and special effects found at dark raven, the massive size of the place and the fact you're in there for so long makes for a more fun experience, you can't help but get absorbed when your cut off from reality for such long periods of time. Not to cut the place short though on quality, after all the years they have collected a TON of good props- DRM just puts a lot more work into a lot less scenes resulting in hollywood level detail. The catacombs are still amazing =)

Frightworld seems kind of cheesy, but is decent quality... it just comes off as very stereotypical for some reason.

I wouldn't recommend the haunted caves in lockport, which ARE cool as shit because you really do walk through a huge underground cave even if it isn't that scary- but last year a female member in my tour group FLIPPED out when a 'vampire' type guy came out near the end of the tour got up close to her and actually licked the whole side of her hand! No one really knew what to say or weather to believe it so after some awkward silence the tour just kind of moved forward.. on to the next section where the 'vampire' took control of the boat which was used for the final boat ride of the tour. Apparently the weirdo runs the show! This didn't really dawn on us though until after we called the next day to complain. The guy on the phone- probably the same guy- said he would mention it to his employee, but started to sound really nervous and panicked when we mentioned wantin to contact the police. He said he would call back and let us know what happened and we never got a call but let it go because the girl was scared. - Fuck Lockport Haunted Cave Molesting Freaks!

lol other than that though, go catacombs and dark raven manor(final fear)! =p Totally worth a trip if you are anywhere close!

What about you guys? What kind of haunted houses are in your area and are any of them worth taking a ride?

im not a fan of halloween so dunno i havent gone to one in years...

Wish I was back in mansfield for Halloween. I live in lauderdale now, but to anybody that has seen the shawshank redemption, the old prison they use, the Reformatory, gets turned into a giant haunted house, and it is off the chain. Especially if you are trippin. Its intense as hell

No real good haunted houses in FL ..lots of fun stuff in Orlando though, pretty cheesed up, good times nonetheless! Where in Western NY are you? Lily Dale outside of Freedonia is pretty creepy to walk around :) No actors, just plain ghosts ;)

I work in the House of Shock Horror show in New Orleans, La every year!! It is much different and much more grusome that your normal haunted house. we call it more of a horror show! all who work in it, build, create it! Some really talented artist! It has been goin on for about 15 years now and all started in someone's backyard... we have great food, a great stage show before you enter the house, and always great metal or rock bands that play. we always have the pain tribe that performs.. which are really people who love pain, they peirce there skin and hang from the peircing or pull on each other from cables connecting to each other....its my favorite time of year
Halloween... this even last thru the whole mth of oct. and for the people who work there, like myself, its just one really big kick ass party....anyone who ever comes this way at this time of year should defanitly check it out
