Back in the day a simple google search would link you to various drug forums but now all I get is over dose this over dose that quit now etc? I have my safe search on off if that helps.

Does anyone else experience this or noticed how they censor the web? I feel it’s doing more harm than good for people who need answers for harm reduction

Yes Bluelight has faced issues with Google. Who knows why they don’t show them on a search or it’s difficult to find.

This is a resource of harm reduction and drug information and saves lives. Google has it twisted

Good point....now I type f.e. (pregabalin with buprenorphine www.bluelight.org )- only then will give me results for bluelight only but I think you already knew that...just thinking out loud:shrug:

The way google works is that companies pay specific amounts of money for specific words

say if i type in the word "car" what do I get?
Mercedes Benz. Now I'm in Germany, so that might be different in the USA,
but that's usually how it works

So I see, Mercedes pays most for the word "car" in Germany

You'll prolly find Bluelight, on later pages

Google changed their alhorithm in 2018 to BERT which has an AI incorporated algorithm. Metadata by definition has expanded and BL is a little behind. Google is about to upgrade to MUM or multimodal processing. Its going to start translating 75 languages of websites on the fly for globalization and start providing its own answers based on the data it collects. This could bury sites like BL which is a classic web forum. Solidarity with other sites and agencies is the answer I wanted to provide before my life fell apart. Metadata is everything which is on the site now. Google doesnt hate harm reduction material, like Fb and Ig for example. But a major revision is what will keep a site relevant. Almost every successful site has great meta which is varying to each section of the site. And more official content as well aside from community as well. Bluelight has amazing pitential. In ky experience a LOT of people who are high up know this site as a part of their past. Its amazing. I hope Bluelight can keep up with this change in seo and tech.
