Has Anyone Sucessfully Grown Cacti Indoors without Additional Light?

Hi, I live in Canada where it is legal to grow cacti and I have been researching a bit for hobby not so much for recreational use since I hear it takes a very long time for cacti to grow if started from seeds. I was thinking it would make a nice addition to the house plants and was wondering if you can grow either peyote, san pedro or peruvian torch inside from seed by the window. My research has indicated that if started from seed, even when the cactus is bigger you shouldn't give it direct sunlight, so most people say 4-6hrs of direct sunlight is optimal. Apparently you should go after the same instructions as you would if you were growing aloe vera (same family).

- MODERATORS- Please let me know if this is not allowed but from what I read discussion of cannabis gowing is allowed so since cacti is actually legal I dont see a reason I shouldn't post it...let me know if I am not correct.

I am not a mod for this area, so I have no idea whether or not they currently allow this type of discussion in PD, but yeah I've seen them growing inside in people's living rooms with no special lighting here in Canada. I'm not positive if they were actually started from seed indoors though. If this thread doesn't get closed I can ask and find out if you want. There is a lot of detailed info on starting them from seed and growing them indoors available with some simple Googling. (Maybe you already did that though?) Seeds can take a very long-ass time to grow by the way, so hopefully you're patient.
