Thinking in outer space with my gobblins head
I have read and can attest to the fact that milk thistle does potentiate the effects of Vicodin and Valium for me. The problem I have with this is, I take milk thistle for its ability to repair the liver. Is it presumptuous to conclude then that Milk Thistles ability to potentiate an opiate could be putting more stress on my liver? Or, is it killing two birds with one stone, by both potentiating the affects of the drug, while preventing harm to the liver. Look forward to responses.

Cheers

Opioids are non-toxic to the liver, I don't see why this is an issue.

What is hepatotoxic, on the other hand, is huge doses of paracetamol/acetaminophen. But I wouldn't rely on milk thistle to prevent damage.

Thanks. I should have clarified the fact that the Vicodin does have APAP in it, hence my concern about combining the two together.

I'm pretty sure milk thistle is no more than a band-aid in practice. It won't save your liver from getting fucked up on huge doses of acetaminophen but it's likely to reduce the normal wear and tear on your liver from daily stuff.

As stated before, opioids are generally nontoxic to the liver. Potentiating them just raises blood levels or makes them hang around longer, it won't suddenly make them toxic.
