Harm Reduction Harm reduction- I want to start a syringe exchange where I live...where to start?

Hey everyone! I would love to start a syringe exchange where I live. It's very difficult to get points , NO pharmacy will give them to me without a prescription, except ONE. Sure I can order online, but there's still a need for the exchange I feel. There's been many times I've had to use the same point for 2-4 days because I had no access to a new, clean one. I use a new one every time and prefer to do it that way. I know, not everyone does that, but maybe if we had an exchange, they would! How do I go about starting this? Does anyone know? Who do I call about this? Not one clue how to begin, but there is absolutely a need for it!!!

I suppose it would depend on your location. If pharmacies aren't allowed to give out needles then I'm not sure if you would be able to either.

This thread might be a good place to start looking for services in your area wherever that is.
 
They are allowed to by law, they CHOOSE not to because they are idiots. There is no law in Florida that says they cannot sell them. One pharmacy in the area will sell them . ONE! They're only open weekdays 9-6. I just think it would be helpful to have an exchange!
 
That's crazy you need a prescription for them. Call a local methadone clinic and maybe they can help

.u haven't ever heard of a syringe exchange ? I guess not. Where are u from?
 
Just do it. Buy 10,000 syringes from a wholesale provider and start giving them out. Reach out to syringe exchanges or HR groups in other states to get donations to get started if you need. Maybe get a separate cell phone so you have contact information you could give out. Reach out to Tracy Helton if you need help--she started her own underground HR organization like 10 years ago and has inspired many others.
