Hi Blue lighters, I have recently started blogging in an effort to order my own thought while providing useful information to those in need of it. I am not trying to make money out of it or promote any particular philosophy but just provide information and the benefit of my own real world experience.
Too many of those in the treatment industry have no experience of the reality of drug addiction. There are many aspects of addiction science that are meaningless until you have experienced them for yourself. I wouldn't say that the only effective addiction counsellor or doctor is one that has been an addict, but I will say that what you learn from a book alone will not allow you to relate to a person struggling with addiction as the human being they are.
I would also like to propose that continuing to use drugs be seen as a viable treatment option. WHAT? (you may say) Well this statement comes from the belief that the majority of harm caused by drugs is caused by their misuse so surely with a sensible harm-minimization philosophy there needs to be a completely objective judgement of all the risks and managing of those risks.
I am no expert but I am experienced in the real world of drugs and drug treatment and I aim to add to that real world knowledge with a solid academic training. I am currently studying toward a Bachelor of Arts with Psychology as my major.
I would like anybodies help and feedback. Please come to my blog and check out the videos, pictures and articles. If there is something you like or something you hate then please let me know.
