I remember one Canada day when I was living there my wife and I took a ride up to Lake Heron, had lunch in Goderich. 2004. I remember that day as we got blasted one of my favorite beers, Wellington Iron Dukes. Nice day.
We had to rent a car for that as my car was totalled a week before 200 feet from where we lived. (they say accidents happen close to home) I went out to get a newspaper and milk , took the dog and someone slammed into me. Car done. So I had to go back to the states a week later to get a new car and come back. But we had a good day with a rent a car on July 1st.
I often tease my Canadian wife one some of the Canadian holidays. July 4th in the US is freedom. So I ask her what July 1st means. In May the May long weekend in Canada (or Ontario) comes a week before the US Memorial day. August, the civic holiday come a week before the US Labor day. And lastly Thanksgiving (from what is the case) though October for Canada and in Nov from the US. (I told my wife Canada is acting like a jealous little sister of the US.......
I am kidding of course but the jiving happens in my house is because she makes fun of the US and I take it too.!!)
One things I notice, Ontario and NY are much more alike than say NY or Texas or say Ontario and Alberta. Often other than the money when I cross into Canada I still feel like I am in NY and people can be similar. People are people though.
As far as what we are doing this year, I have to work.

Living back in states. But hope everyone has a good one. If anyone knows the cause of holiday I am all ears.
