Hallucinogenic salvia no longer legal in Canada

This government is getting more oppressive and more americanized by the minute. In fact we are outdoing the americans on this one. When will the Canadian people wake up i wonder? Whats next unlimited detension for drug offences without a charge? Whats it going to take for everyone to wake the fuck up?

Also if anyone says that it does not affect them because they don't like salvia well newsflash it does fucking affect you! Do you relly think Harper and company will stop at this?

I imagine if the fascists had won the war they would now look something like the conservative government.

Some fucking democracy right enough :p

Mods if i posted this wrong please feel free to fix or edit it as you please.

Look on the bright side. Most of the population of Canada is close to the US border. Just drive down here to get some. Still, fuck the government for all this shit. Although it's different to see that US drug laws are slightly less horrible than Canadian ones in this instance.

Phew... Now that salvia is illegal in Canada people will finally stop experimenting with drugs. Bullet dodged!

Well, if I understand the article correctly, Salvia is still not a controlled substance in Canada, it's just written that Salvia has never been approved for sale as an health product by Health Canada.

In the same way, Kava Kava is neither an approved health product by Health Canada and is still sold as an "incense".

So nothing has changed and Salvia is still technically legal to purchase.

Technically legal yes but after this i doubt many places will sell salvia which is a big inconvienance to say the least. Plus it's only a matter of time before the government makes it totally illegal.

I hope stevie dies a horrible death in some place where they have not invented morphine.

so what?

i mean, as someone who has tried all kinds of upper, downer and psyche drugs and has an appreciation to at least some degree for most of them, I can safely say that salvia is is a pretty shitty chemical in terms of positive vs. negative effects.

I agree...there are plenty of other chemicals that don't cause profuse sweating among other odd things.

I find salvia very unpleasant, but I still do it sometimes for the ridiculously weird visuals.

Whether a drug should be legal or not is unrelated to how good the drug is though.

There is no reason for salvia to be illegal and compared to most drugs it seems to cause basically no damage due to use and is definetely anti-addictive compared to almost any other rec drug out there. Almost everyone i know who has bothered to try it say they either hated it or wouldnt go out of their way to ever do it again. I personally find it pretty interesting and yes it is incredibly intense and chaotic but i dunno in a fucked up way i like it. I think it might have some positive effects on my bipolar depression as well.

Making it illegal is just another infringement on our right do to opressive drug laws plain and simple.

Salvia isint really recreational but it is most certainly interesting. It is by far the most mind blowing substance i have ever encountered to say the least. But at the same time it seems to have no long term negative effects and very little in the way of negative effects afterwards. Well ok the sweating alot thing sucks balls (i once sweated right through my t-shirt after taking a big hit of salvia) but really thats about it. Stimulants like amphetamines and coke especially when rocked up or IVed make you sweat just as bad or worse and for a much longer time (especially in the case of amphetamines) and i never hear anyone complaining about those drugs. Even the feeling of being kinda out of place after taking salvia goes away pretty quick for me.

I have never met or even heard of someone who has used salvia anywhere near the point of what anyone would classify as addiction. So ya i have never seen a salvia head or heard of one and ive known people who displayed addictive behaviour on quetiapine ffs! If you ever did manage to get addicted to it i imagine the WD's would be something like nalbuphine or pentazocine withdrawals only since salvia is a pure kappa agonist you wouldnt get any of the typical mu receptor withdrawals.

As much as I find it interesting and enjoyable, I've always thought salvia to be pretty much self regulating, I can't imagine anyone using it recreationally or frequently.
I guess the media just latch onto the word hallucination and start their foaming at the mouth "think of the children" moral crusade.
