Ok, so one of my friends is throwing a 3 day halloween party/moviefest. She's taken care of all the tasty goodies, but now we are left with one major problem ~ WHICH MOVIES TO PICK ? We want ones that will really scare your pants off, cool stuff that the 'horror buffs' could recommend would be much appreciated. So far I have been psyching myself up for this by watching other horror movies and have seen a few good ones, and a few not so good ones...

+ (good)
Wrong Turn - Especially freaky and cool. Gruesome special effects.
Hellraiser - Funny.
Saw - Fun twists, good ambiance.
The Shining - All around fucking cool.
Silence of the Lambs - Another favorite

- (bad)
I Know What You Did Last Summer - Amusing, but weak
Hellraiser 4 - Uh, NOOOOO.
Texas Chainsaw Massicure - Eh. So so. Definitly not good though.
Scream - Hehehheee, not the kind of horror we are looking for. Fun!

So, please, tell me some good horror movies to rent!!

1. Evil DEAD ONE

2. CARRIE ( please please go see this...i love it )

3. PET SEMATARY 1

4. THE OMEN 1 & 2

5. An AMERICAN WEREWOLF in LONDON

6. THE SIXTH SENSE

7. CREEPSHOW

I was just talking with my boyfriend about how Carrie freaks us the fuck out..especially the part where her mom is trying to stab her with a kitchen knife and the camera is on the floor, panning up towards the scary psycho witch mom , with that HORRIFYING WALTZ!

New movies added :

House of a 1000 corpses at a friends recommendation.
I Spit On Your Grave
Last House on the Left
The Beyond
Carry
Pet Semitary
Creepshow
Poltergeist
The Thin

Movies I have already Seen :
It

The Omen
The Sixth Sense

The movies up there (not including house of a 1000 corpses) look like B movie fare to me man. NOT scary. :p pffffffft

have fun, this sounds like a great idea. i love horror films. when I was little, i would go to blockbuster with my mom and spend all my time in the horror section looking for the vids that had covers on them, cause they were too gory to show to the public :D that's the ones I wanted!!

Suspiria's great. Also, The Vanishing (although it is more of a suspense movie). But you have to go with the French version, not the shitty American re-make.

In terms of gruesomeness, the Phantasm and Wishmaster movies are pretty nauseating.

The Fly
Poltergeist
The Thing (one of the best horror movies I've seen, a must see)

Poltergeist scared me so much when I was a child. Hell, I still wont let a clown sit at my bedside, and I am 30. (yeah, i know that happens all the time lol) That and the tree outside were very frightening.

The new House of Wax is actually pretty good.
Creepshow is decent
Night of the Living Dead ( the 1990 version ) I found to be very frightening.

Have fun!
