Hello,

Today I had a large molar removed. With my gum bleeding and all, is it not a good idea if I have a couple of bowls tonight? I'd really like to, but I'm concerned as to what smoke, or the contents it's carrying, may do to the wound.

If anyone else has been in a similar situation, please share :)

smoking anything can hurt your just pulled tooth. like the above poster said you can get a 'dry socket'. i think both the action of smoking as well as the smoke is what causes it.
play it safe.... wait

Woah, what's 'dry-socket'? Extreme cotton-mouth around the gum? Doesn't sound very nice :( Think I'll wait.

Edit: Just read it up on wikipedia. Aww a weed free Thursday and Friday for me :(

I just had a tooth pulled too man. a molar, #18 they called it. they also advised me not to smoke for at least 72 hours. the most important thing is not to pull a vacuum in your mouth, if you know what I mean. No suction. that would disturb the blood clot.

I've heard you should wait at least 5 days.

You can look with a mirror at the site and can kinda tell when it is healed enough.

My boy smoked a few blunts with me when he got his teeth pulled, definetly shouldn't do it you could get a lot of different health complications I know you could get a bad infection and apparently a 'dry socket'. Just wait a few days enjoy your painkillers :).

i smoked out after getting teeth removed
never got a dry socket

if ya do get a dry socket
that just means more percs :)

Bong + no tooth = severe pain. Don't do this shit man, hurt like fuckin jesus for a long ass time.

Maybe you could try vaporizing (if it is an option)? You don't need to pull on a vaporizer as hard as a pipe (in fact, unless it is the style that fills a balloon, the slower you pull the better) and I doubt the vapor would have nearly as many bad health effects on a recently pulled tooth as a bong hit would.

Of course... not a doctor... not professional advice... safer not to risk it... blahblahblah

I remember someone i used to go to highschool with getting their wisdom teeth removed. It was clearly one of the bad ones, his cheeks were quadruple the normal size, looked like a chipmunk. Anyways... he would smoke through his nose. I remember passing the joint around and i was like uhhh yea youre gonna have to roll your own joint. I cant imagine how irritating that is on the nose.

Haha ^ that's crazy, but I contemplated it xD

I just compressed one of the cotton pads the dentist gave me, into the socket. This protected the clot and wound from the smoke and from being disturbed by pulling the bong.

what I did when I had my wisdom tooth pulled out was have one of my buddies milk the bong for me. Then I slowly inhaled, while trying hard to not suck so hard, and still biting down on the gauze in my mouth. It still hurt sort of so I would advise you to inhale very slowly. and yeah, you dont want to create much of a vacuum, ie. bong rips, pipe rips, drinking out of a straw.

yeah, i was still biting down on the gauze... it was about... 4-5 hrs after i had taken out the tooth. It was still bleeding a lot. but I had to smoke. hehe.
