And it's a very slippery slope to find ourselves in a similar situation, too, with people such as the sitting SCOTUS judge you described in power. Not sure why that wouldn't be concerning to every single member here, unless they're an evangelical, in which case, yeah, not surprised... sadly (I have an aunt and cousin who are pretty much aligned with condemning everyone who doesn't believe the earth is 6000 years old,.... the scary thing is, growing up they were nothing like that at all, christian, yes, but that... not at all).

Oh, of course we don't presently have it as bad as those unfortunate enough to live in countries inflicted by Sharia law. But we have a very, VERY long way to go to truly purge religious influence in government. And one major political party is determined not just to hold up that progress, but to actively drag us backwards. And they've had some major successes these last several years.

I have heard fearmongering BS like that for longer than most people here have been alive. Including the false claim that everyone in the USA who is not heterosexual will be somehow en-masse put into GULAG style prison/labour camps, or concentration camps.

It will never happen. If people who were or currently are, or will probably be or stay in power in the government of the USA wanted to do this it would have been done decades ago like how the super leftist and progressive FDR (Franklin Delano Roosevelt) put many Japanese, Germans, and Italians as in both recent immigrants and people from these countries who emigrated to the United States who became citizens or were here for 1-3 generations into prison/labor camps during the second World war.

I am not going to doxxx him for you or tell you any of that. He has enough problems and his life is ruined as it should be. The other people involved in his arrest and the court hearings will also be kept private.

Who is ‘the left’?
Joe Biden is a status quo neoliberal, as are most Senators and House Representatives on both sides of the aisle.
When both sides want to keep funding the military industrial complex, uphold free market capitalism, and maintain nearly every aspect of the status quo, there is no left.
One side allowing a few gay people to be some of the soldiers they send across the world to shoot Middle Eastern civilians doesn’t make a difference.
The left is not in power in America.

I wasnt talking about the oath. Your presidents mention God in their speeches. If they dont pretend to be Christian, they fuck up their chances of being elected (at least somewhat) right?

I'm pretty certain Austtalian and UK politicians are actually less religious than US politicians. I didnt mean politically religious specifically (earlier) for the record but everything overlaps anyway.

There are no religious areas in Australia. We dont have Christian states. Growing up in the 80s, I hardly knew anyone whose family was in anyway religious. There were 300 kids per year in my high school. Among them, one or two kids came from a religious background.

Christianity seems like a huge part of the history of the US. The pilgrims were more... uptight... than the Australian settlers.

At least, that's what cartoons tell me!

Neoliberals are left. Democrat party is left. The corporatocracy is left. American oligarchs are largely left. Foreign and domestic policy left. Our economic model is left( keynesian)

I think we may have different definitions for these terms.
To me, neoliberalism is the economic ideology espoused by individuals such as Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, Joe Biden, George Bush (Jr and Sr), and Bill Clinton.
In my view, neoconservativism is an overlapping ideology that combines neoliberalism with extreme war hawk imperialist foreign policy.

Neocons basically act as fall guys, I agree.
But don't forget ww1 2, Vietnam, Korea, we're all wars fought with Democrat presidents.

Neocon bush drops bombs for military industrial complex, neolib Pelosi then rushes in for big banks and social programs to traffick kids and steal money from the poor.

They are a one two punch.

The term gets used interchangeably, but Bush, Reagan, and thatcher are neocons. Neocons like neoliberals. They pretend to be enemies.
 
It’s already gone way farther than this. There was a mass shooting where a republican US House of Representatives grandson committed a mass shooting at a drag show killing 8 ppl.

Republicans in Texas are footing a bill that will eliminate the general public from any form of prosecution for "defending the southern border." They are creating a vigilante death squad.

Republicans are vile pieces of filth I’ve cut them all out of my life completely. I’m from the south so basically my entire family and lifelong friends I made the decision like 5 years ago to never speak to any of them again and I haven’t answered anyone’s calls for 5 years
