Just something I whipped up on the fly, or high, never mind... Hope u like.

---So I am sorry, Mum and Dad, but I'm sure you both, of all people, would understand why I have to do this. Could either of you imagine living without the other? It's the same for me without Susannah; I have no wish to go on, not alone, not like this. It may seem weak you, and I hope in time you can forgive my selfish actions, I’m sure that the minister will not. Perhaps, God willing, I will meet her on the other side. All my love, your son, Jay.

Jay, finally satisfied with what he had written carefully folded up the letter and placed it in the envelope. He chewed; grinding teeth together, to encourage a little saliva into his dry mouth then licked and sealed the envelope. Laying it outside the door he hoped it would prepare them a little, that the shock would not be so bad for whoever was the first to enter.

Taking off his clothes, Jay stepped into the bath and picked up the knife. He had bought that day, it had to be sharp, and he had to get this right the first time. Taking a deep breathe Jay pushed the knife into his wrist and pulled downwards, cutting deep into veins and arteries. The water in the bath became polluted with his blood, a cloud of it spreading slowly outwards. Jay laid his head back and tried to ignore the draining feeling that was passing through him.

This was the only way.

A spasm through his body caused his foot to jerk, dislodging the bath-plug and a flailing arm to knock a glass full of bath salts to the tiles, where it shattered, and lay shining. What a beautiful thing, he thought, with his head lying on the side of the bath, watching the broken glass play with the bathroom lights, as the bloody water circled out of the bath and his life spiraled away from him.

Flashes of memories long forgotten, driving, her laughing at some random joke by him, headlights on the wrong side on the road, and then, impact.

He had done the right thing, this was the only way he could see her again.

The memories began to fade, washed away by a veil of red. Jay was wondering what it meant when the veil split in half and out strode an armored figure, holding a lance upright. Fire burned within its helmet, scorching away the veil, until all was dark, all was lifeless.
‘Awake’ the knight commanded, a voice slithering through dead leaves. 'Awake...'

Jay opened his eyes, Bright lights seared his vision. Everywhere he gazed fires run rampart. A sickening smell of sulfur filled the air. Jay knew where he was, and it certainly wasn't heaven.
'Hell' he whispered, almost afraid to speak the name of the place he stood in, 'I'm in hell?'
From behind him came a sibilant hiss 'Yes'. Jay whirled around to see the flames slowly merge together and solidify into a great, black dragon. The huge beast slowly spread its wings and raised itself up onto its hind legs. Its eyes, golden and terrible, burning brighter than the flames of the place, locked onto Jay and he could feel his legs begin to falter then he collapsed to his knees. 'Appropriate that you know your place' said the beast.
'I'm not supposed to be here,' Jay replied, making the sign of the cross against his body..
The dragon laughed. ‘That won’t help you here boy, suicide is a sin, and none who commit it shall pass through to see the gates heaven.'
Jay sunk further to the ground, the beast was right. 'But, you have a chance. Souls of suicide do not belong to me, at first. They are free, free of me or the other, until they prove their worth.'
'And how can I do that?' Jay asked.
'You must overcome what is holding you here.' With those words the dragon dissolved back into flames and the flames dissolved into nothing.

Jay found himself on a white narrow, winding path that stretched off into the horizon. The sky was the color of ash and on either side on the path was murky read water. The air was pungent with the smell of salt; there was no water, only blood. Jay took his first step on the path and wretched shrieks filled the air. He looked down at the path to find it laid with skulls, each one writhing a little, the one, on that his foot was placed, was still screaming. Jay hurriedly began walking along the path, some skulls took the pressure without any noise, some tried to roll over and bite his foot. He continued on though, screams, and echoes of screams following.

His feet were bloody, torn to shreds by the biting skulls. The path still showed no end, it felt like he had always been walking, for an infinite amount of time. The skulls no longer screamed, they forced their energies into biting whenever he placed a foot down, it was lucky that none had bitten off a toe yet.

Placing his foot down gingerly on what looked like a still skull; Jay felt a sharp pain as the skull bit into his already ravaged heel. With a cry of rage and frustration he reached down and grabbing the skull through its eye sockets heaved it off the path. Underneath the skull was a void. Jay had no idea where it lead, but sensed that it was surely better than here.

Indiscriminately throwing skulls, he soon made the hole wide enough to fit through and into it he fell, downwards, and downwards, until he emerged into a great cavern, its walls shining with ice, reflecting his image a hundred-fold, a thousand-fold. His descent slowed as he came close to the ground and he turned to place his feet on the ground.

He surveyed the cavern, each turn of his head making him dizzy as his reflections did the same. Upon turning around he stopped, in the centre of the cavern was Susannah, chained to a post, her hair bloody, and the gash in her side visible. It was the same as the last he'd seen of her, after that horrific accident, the day she had died. Jay walked up to her and placed his hand upon her cheek, it was cold, a moan came from her lips, and Jay wished he could die once more.

The armored figure stepped from around the side of her, lance in hand. It reversed it and offered the hilt to Jay. You must overcome what is holding you here ; the memory of the command rang great in his mind. Jay took the lance and placed the tip against Susannah's chest. She looked up, her gaze full of hate, full of envy.
'Do it' said the knight, 'prove your worth'.
Jay hesitated. 'No,' he said, 'she would never be here!' You must overcome what is holding you here . He quickly turned and swung the lance, knocking the helmet off the knight. Flames spewed forth, sparks danced outwards, burning, yet Jay paid no heed. What lay beneath the helmet had him transfixed, the knight was him. You must overcome what is holding you here . Jay tightened his grip on the lance and thrust it forward, into the doppelganger’s chest.
Regarding him with golden eyes, the twin said, ‘well done,’ and then vanished, along with Susannah.

The cavern then tore apart. Ice, and rock, flying in every direction. As this occurred, Jay let himself go, and felt the darkness take him once more.
He opened his eyes to find his mother and father leaning over him, their faces full of concern, of sadness. He looked down at his wrist to find the cuts stitched. He was alive and if what he had seen was what he had to look forward to when he did die, maybe it wasn’t that bad to be that way anymore?

Maybe because it's 3:05. Maybe because I'm tired. Maybe because I don't know what I'm doing anymore...

... for whatever reason, this made sense to me tonight.
