if i was growing inside, in some dirt will it work (no hydro or any thing just in front of a window) with lots of sun?

you might be able to grow a plant like that, but i'd bet you're not going to be very happy with your results. does the room get direct sunlight for more than 16 hours a day in the summer?

So you plan to keep a plant in front of a window? Might as well tape a sign on the window saying
'MARIJUANA PLANT---->'

I gave a shot at growing inside, but I was using lights. I probably went through about 20 plants and they would all just get tall and skinny and then just topple over. I could never understand why until I found out the lights I was using weren't giving off the right spectrum of light for it to grow properly. Ah well, you live and learn.

I suggest getting a HPS (High Pressure Sodium) light, the best artificial light to use. I suggest for one plant at least 150 watt, which would be kinda small. A 150 watt HPS light will give you 2.5 square feet of suffient light.

GOOD LUCK! AND HAVE FUN!

Uhh, dude.. Read first, then ask questions. I don't think you've grasped the basics just yet, I could be wrong here.. But not really.

What are your plans? Do you plan on growing indoors or outdoors? If you plan to grow indoors, will it be under artificial light or sunlight? If you're growing outside, what part of the world do you live in? How long does the sun shine where you're at? Is it a humid environment, or dry? What kind of soil is it in, how big is your container? And so on..

If you are just starting to go into autumn then it won't work. Marijuana is not a house plant, weed needs vegatative light cycles and flowering light cycles. Go to icmag.com and read read read and then once you have done that then read some more.

^ A cannabis plant can grow just fine on 12/12 for it's whole lifetime, depending on the strain. It just get's a lot smaller.

I dont know your definition of "just fine", but MJ grown at 12/12 throughout its life will be stunted and quite confused. While 12 hrs is adequate light to grow MJ,it wont grow well. The 12 hrs of dark is going to trigger flowering, which at such a young age is going to confuse it , and produce low yeild, low quality.-usdi Agaluga

I thought I said that? The plant will get a lot smaller. If you choose a sativa dominant strain for this, you will be surprised with the results. I've seen lot's of 12/12 indoor grows with phenomenal results, 1 guy I know easily pulls 1 gr a watt each time this way.

Yup, 12/12 works....just not as well as 24/0 then moving towards 12/12 for flowering.

If you are doing a casual indoor grow...that's cool, I just would put the plant somewhere secluded like a closet.

Put a cannabis seed about 1/3" down in the soil and cover it with a bit of soil. Water lightly, and then put a compact flourescent light on it, like a 30 watt one designed to replace normal incandescent bulbs.

Keep the light on 24/7....and it should grow

To germinate a seed, i'd use an incandescent bulb to keep the medium warm, then switch to a fluoro as soon as the seed sprouts.

i gotta thousand watt, i wish i had a smaller one for my plan to grow didn't work out to well. Couldn't get the mylar to stick to underground growroom in yard, I didnt try to hard once i went thru on row of it, i still got the soil, i was just going to throw a 50lb bail of potting soil in the bottom, and put about 15 clones in there, man this would have been the shit, maybe next winter when my electril bill will go up any way.

And i couldn't figure how to moving air and circulation in the underground place, and can can the helicopters see the heat through the concrete the light give's off???

See i just got my own house and love to smoke and thats it, im just paranoid too

Plants do not require sun light for germinating, once the seed has popped and sprouted out of the top of the soil then does it need light.

Growing inside is all about the setup. If you buy the materials and build a box or growroom properly, and have all the necessary elements like ventilation, HPS light, good soil, proper nutrients, and a relatively airtight space, it's pretty easy and very rewarding, and you'll end up with a good yield and potency. But you have to be willing to do that and invest a little money. Planting a plant in any old soil in front of a window is going to be a waste of your time, believe me. You can't get something for nothing.
