growing different strain of mushrooms in the same box good practice?

what would happen if you mix different spores and try to grow them in the same "box"? will this come out weird? will this create poison? will this create "mutts"? 8(

Just curious if it's even possible.
 
The two species of mushroom might compete with each other, or they may grow their mycelia together and share resources (as it were), depending on the level of genetic compatibility that they have.
 
i think the op is reffering to similar cubensis strains, given that he s asking a lot of these questions :) you can introduce similar strains in the same substrate, however you are also doubling your chances for sterility to be broken, by inoculating twice. there is no real reason to do it. just wait and use the second spores for the next grow. patience is golden
