So I know LED lighting has made some advancements in recent years and I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with using LED grow set-ups.

I saw a couple of them on the internet that caught my eye and looked legit. to point you toward a few...

not advertising, just seeing what you guys were thinking. If anyone has used an LED for growing purposes help me out! if you have a better product to suggest drop me a link or something

They wouldnt work, no heat is produced by LEDs. Not to mention the color spectrum thing, same reason flouro's blow. HPS or MH is the way to go, you probably could do it with a 200w but only if you are want enough for one or two plants. Good luck.

oh they can work alright, just with varying success. LEDs can grow a plant as seen here http://www.ledgrow.eu/

uses many interesting combinations. he is working toward more light power seems like thats the only setback. and the LED's are meant to only contain the color spectrum a plant needs, using less energy and heat.

true... i'm not sure why it caught my eye so much, i think it has some serious potential in the near future and i may start doing some experimenting of my own soon.

For the best effect i would use metal hyde or soudium high pressure bulbs. For a cheaper alternative you can use a bunch of cfls but that won't work as good.

I have seen some decent grow diaries done with them, but if they were so good they would be the standard choice, so for me I'll pass, also it seems for the good results you have to spend a lot so, meh..

Best of all is the Sun, nothing beats that. ;)

Less power. It's the whole point. You can get more lumens per watt with up to date led lights versus an hps or metal halide.

LEDs are incredible for a flowering room. Cheaper in the long fun but expensive up front

I have seen it done the leds have to be kept about 1 inch above the plants, and you have to raise them every so often, myself I used a 1000w HPS you can't beat that light! I think untill the led technology gets better a HPS or MH would be best - I have seen amazing things with flouro's too if you are worried about a heat signature, MH bluer spectrum for growth and HPS reds for flowering...the leds don't have a strong enough specturm I'd just wait.

huh? you are right, led's dont put off any heat. thats one of the two biggest reasons people started using led's for growing. the other reason is they use very little electricity. the problem is they are insanely expensive for the amount of led's you need to successfully grow. the little ufo's and other small led panels arent big enough to yield a decent harvest.

most people will tell you to go mh/hps which is correct but they get really hot and use massive electricity. unless you use a 250w which again is going to produce a skimpy harvest and isnt worth your time.

i honestly just sold my 600w mh/hps so i could buy a HO t5 fluorescent panel. they are a lil pricey but its all you need.

well you can buy led's in bulk online. its worth it if there not giving off alot of heat and use alot less elecrtricity. thats how alot of people get caught. and snitches..

LED's are good for stealth grows where your in a small space, so no heat worries, but as said there too expensive really.

Alright so i will leave LEDs to the experimenting for now, I was also looking into a son agro bulb, anyone have some experience with that?

Sorry to hijack this thread a little bit, but what is the best light to use in terms of balance of decent light and electricity output and heat. Something that is good enough for a decent grow, but also doesn't use insane amounts of power.

LED still needs alot more improvments before it can be used in growing high production plants such as marijuana. Although grows are possible using LED the yield won't be very good compared to a HPS lamp or even CFL's.

I have seen a comparison of LEDs used as compared to standard grow lights....

The yeild is lower with LED lighting, the only benefit being very low power consumption, and no heat given off... But the plants need a certain temp to thrive in anyways....

If your looking at a stealth grow, LEDs are a good option... Compact, low power, low temps, and they last for a long damn time....

You can get a couple cfls and that would not waste very much electricity. It can have decent results. But I would go with MH or a HPS atleast for flowering.
