I was curious to know if mirrors in a grow room will help reflect light better? Is it worth placing mirrors in a grow room? (better yet, grow 'closet')

Also i was curious if someone can place a link to pictures of plants...like a day by day photo journal with a description of the light cycles they used. I have been reading alot on photoperiods and I hear alot of different things. I would like a concrete answer on what photoperiod should be used for a fast growth with a good yield.

Thanks to anyone who can help =D

no actually mirrors absorb light. event flat white paint would be better.

Use mylar film to reflect light

is there anything else u can use besides mylar film and white paint? Like something common around the house and/or economical? Like maybe stapling a white sheet to the walls?

the light that my friend is using is strong enough, but he says he wants to make it as strong as possible. Any suggestions would be nice...

@Actin - Anything is better than nothing, as papa said white paint works somewhat white is the most reflective color in the spectrum.
Is he using a relector hood over his light? This will definately help. I've always liked the idea of using 1 main light up top(HPS or MH) and using some carefully placed CFLs to fill in the gaps when the plant gets bigger. Like placing them on the sides where the bottom half of the plant gets shaded by leaves. I hope that makes sense, I have the picture in my head...

@papa - you could be right, I'm not that familiar with those.

I think the older ones are aluminized and the more modern *cough*CHEAP*cough* ones are mylar.

still in the germination stage, but he was wondering, when the plants are still in the beginning stage if he should line the bottom part of the closet (where the plants are) with some aluminum or tin foil or can he staple a white sheet to every square inch of the walls to make it brighter?

hes kinda tight on cash right now and hes curious if there is something in his house he can use for a few weeks to hold him over til his cash flow is better

ALSO IM LOOKIN FOR A DAY BY DAY PHOTO JOURNAL...with a description of the light cycle used.

i just read the other day, mylar reflects like 96% of light, and flat white paint is around 90%. I have also seen people using the survival blankets, dont know if they are actually mylar, but it seems they would do the trick.

Aluminum reflects more heat than light, I wouldn't use it.
No need to staple anything, buy some white paint :)

About your other question, there are tons of cannabis grow forums, if you search you will find a photo journal for sure.

...btw they still make tin foil? 8o ;)

he says he has insulation board, and the one side is metalic...almost close to aluminum foil. Will something like that work?

it seems to reflect light VERY well...

Put a drop cloth down, black if you can find it to discourage mold. Use matte white paint or mylar on the walls. The "space blankets" commonly available in camping supply for a couple of bucks work great.

heres another question....has anyone heard of adding blacklights with flourecent lights to grow marijuana. Like use both lights in combination?

its of no value. the blacklight's output is not of the proper wavelength to be benficial to the plant. it is a very high frequency light. Just like you can't see it, the plant can't use it.

the florecent light has all the spectrum coverage that you need

that's the best way i've ever heard that described before. kudos.
