this may be a really dumb question but is it possible to grow with a lamp from a reptile tank?

That depends on what the actual bulb is. There are different types of 'reptile lights'. It is possible to use florescent bulbs. You can even use compact florescent bulbs, but don't expect much yield with those.

You generally want to use High Pressure Sodium or Metal Halide bulbs.

sometimes people use metal halide / mercury vapour / flurescent bulbs in reptile tanks. check what kind of bulb it is, i think you'll find it will not be powerful enough to grow decent cannabis under as most reptile bulbs will be sub 100w.

cool, i appreciate the sarcasm.
but i appreciate the serious answers just a little more, thanks guys.

sarcasm came from the lack of information. what kind of bulb is it? how many watts? all that stuff...

provide good info, get good answers.

thats the thing, i dont actually have the bulb. it was more of a hypothetical question since i'm still trying to figure out what to get.

yea i have been, i was just curious about if anyone ever has grown with those kinds of lamps since hps and metal halides are kind of expensive, and require a specific ballast.

i just bought 2 of those, im gonna see how it works out. hopefully i have some luck with this.
