GROUND yourself!!!

No. We ground ourselves constantly during the day and have no need to do so by going barefoot which exposes us to toxins that are legitimately harmful (eg. cryptococcal meningitis in faecal matter). Furthermore, you know you've just grounded when you feel the zap of a static shock. The doorknob is a common place to discharge, yet most of the time we touch doorknobs, which is ridiculously often, we feel no static zap meaning we had no need to discharge to begin with. The supreme irony is that the insulating soles of shoes actually prevents us from picking up excess charge off surfaces we would otherwise collect from, a fact which should just about hammer the final nail in the coffin of this whack "barefoot grounding" theory.

Have you ever heard of anyone giving anyone a static shock so severe that the victim DIED from it? Our bodies are governed by electrical impulses and yet we get by just fine with or without being physically connected to the soil.

I don't recall it being absolute proof but there is potentially legitimate concern about electromagnetic fields emanating from equiment that sees huge amounts of power. By huge, I mean in the magnitude of powerlines transmitting inconceivable amount of electricity. Generally speaking, no electrical device in the average household projects an EMF further than 2-3 ft and even those are weak fields.

Are you really so naive as to think the purpose of that site is the dissemination of knowledge? Notice that right next to the "Scientific Research" tab there's a tab entitled "Products". You gotta know it's a scam when a website is trying to sell the same grounding strap I can buy for $2 at the electronics store down the street for 18 fuckin quid as a fucking health product.

... We don't mean electrical grounding. We mean connecting spiritually and emotionally with the Earth and feeling the Earth beneath one's feet is one of the easiest ways to begin that connection and appreciation.

And of course there are "products" tabs. Everyone's trying to sell something, you know that. However, that does not disband the notion of feeling and getting close to the Earth. We have gotten away from the power of nature after having been connected with it for most of human existence. I believe that a lot of our health problems are indirectly related to falling away from the Earth and not feeling at peace with it. Work schedules, conferences and not a single drop of sunshine during the day? What better way to reconnect and let the stress fall away than by connecting and sharing your feelings with the Earth?

Maybe you weren't but the OP was. I have really no idea what you're talking about I can tell it has to do with mysticism and such topics lie beyond my scope.

Shoes are bad for your health in so many ways. I personally go barefoot quite alot, everyday i would say. However i do wear shoes when im out because 1: Its socially unacceptable to not, and 2: I dont wanna step on glass(or needles), and as i live in a city, thats quite often a real threat.

Wether you are aware of this or not, we run on electricity. Of course it is bad for us to disrupt that by disconnecting ourselves from the very home we evolved to be living on, earth. Another reason it is bad is because most footwear is actually bad for foot alignment/structure, and bad foot health leads to spine/neck/pelvic inbalances, resulting in bad electronic signal strength/ability through your nerves. This again causes even more health problems.

I saw an interesting interview on the daily show a year or 2 ago. It was about this guy who visited a tribe in mexico that are all about the barefoot life, and they run(barefoot) on jagged horrible rocky terrain for sometimes 100km or more. Their is no cancer and everyone is extremely healthy there. Mental health is also very high. I wish i knew what the book he wrote was called.

Well, if you're looking for other, more material reasons why you should go barefoot, here's an article about what your feet are made to do and the "damned if you do, damned if you don't" side of both stories: bare; and covered.

Of course, the choice lies in your hands. But hey, we're all talking about that "middle path", right? haha.
