Hello everyone!
I have been reading this website off and on for a while so thought I?d sign up. I?m almost a middle aged guy with bi polar for which I take Lithium. I take other drugs for pain and anxiety. Specifically opiates and benzodiazepines. As long as I have those things I am a fully functioning, kind, hard working and happy (ish) person. Without them I have difficulty keeping my mind straight. I am not prescribed opiates or benzos due to ridiculous drug laws in my country which force people like me to source out ?medicine? from other sources. Of course I enjoy the effects of what I take, but they have sign medicinal value to me. Hoping to meet likeminded people and have good discussions. I also have a question which I?ll put in the correct place when I find it.

Hello Lem714; Greetings fellow BiPolarBear!

To be completely honest with you, i've met in incredible amount of other individuals afflicted with Bipolar Disorder on this forum, other than you and myself. We even have a whole Mental Health sub-forum which i strongly recommend you check out! Though, we are so much more than our disorder. But it is telling and somewhat alarming as to how many people in our shoes choose to self medicate.

Here at Bluelight we are big on harm reduction, so although i won't tell you to keep self medicating, i will tell you to be careful and try to find healthy alternatives where possible. Welcome, i just registered myself. Similar situation. I have been off heroin for almost 3 years. Suffer from severe anxiety but have had a difficult time with doctors/insurance and getting a script. I have to go through alterior routes to get my meds which are very unreliable, expensive & a hassle. There are many like ourselves that understand what your going through.
