Hey all!

I've been lurking for I don't know how long and finally thought I'd start posting by my very first trip report, which was on 4-CD since it's not well documented. But now that I'm here, I'd like to stick around! Bluelight has been such an incredible resource and has expanded my knowledge far beyond where it used to be. I wish I'd come here soon because it probably would have kept me from some of the dumb shit I did when I was young.

In terms of drugs: I love psychedelics, weed, and gabapentinoids as my mains (and beer). I also do love stimulants but a little too much, so I am working to reduce my usage or cut it out entirely.

Outside of drugs: I am avid amatuer photographer, musician, coffee freak, and am obsessed with music (if I'm not playing it, I am listening to it). According to Spotify, I logged about 70 days worth of listening last year. Love walking around the city and love being in nature (especially on psychedelics). I love English, especially (but not exclusively) puns and the word fuck. How can you not like the single most versatile word in the English language?

You'll see me around in a few places and I hope to contribute some more trip reports too. I'm a pretty friendly person and I have a reasonable mind so I'm always happy to have a conversation.

Thanks! :)

Hey @Celestial_Robot_Cat - glad to have you :)

Luckily BL offers a lot more than drug experiences, and hopefully you can make this place home and enjoy sub-forums such as Words, Music, or even shoot the fucking shit in the lounge :p

I love the word too. Though "shit" is great too because it can be used meaning different things in so many contexts.

Im a stim junkie, so i know the struggle. I find weed curbs cravings though. Do you feel similarly?

Well welcome to Bluelight and i hope to see you around.

Also what music do you like?

I'd have to say Rage Against The Machine is way up there, most all the 90s like Matchbox 20 etc (too many to list), then classic rock like Eric Clapton, Queen, (wayy too many to list).

Yo @Celestial_Robot_Cat, welcome. We already met a little bit.
I used to love beer too, and we have all sorts of it here with long history/tradition as well; but i gave up alcohol a while ago for different reasons, which is not as fun as it sounds cause folks drink shitloads of it here, it's everywhere. Like the other thing too, hm, what's it called? ..the green stuff. ;) And i have hopelessly romanticized preconceived notions about Canada i just can't get rid of. 🙄 Do you play instruments? See you around..

Hey @madness00! Thanks kindly for the warm welcome. 🙂

Truth be told, it's the overall community that I find most appealing about the site, not just the substance discussion (though that's equal parts invaluable and interesting). I've already made myself well-acquainted with the Music board and will continue to explore. You'll see me around in the Lounge soon enough, I like the not-serious-shittalking vibe that goes on there--reminds me of how I talk with my closest friends. 😝

And you're right about "shit": it's nearly as versatile as "fuck" and, better still, they can be combined like some sort of deranged word transformer. I couldn't even tell you how many times daily I utter the phrase "fucking shit" in some context or another but it's more than a few, that's for sure.

I find weed does curb stim cravings in a way, mostly because of the ability to repeatedly dose. However, I'm naturally a chill, laid-back person (I'd go so far as to say somewhat lethargic) so weed often amplifies that if I use too much of it. I'm trying to get back into sativas more as I find those help but some of the lesser-quality grows induce anxiety fairly easily in me (I'm already predisposed to it). I'm really loving the CBD-heavy strains, though, because the low THC lets me still function while still catching a buzz. They're just not as easy to come by and I don't have the time for shit weed anymore, you know? Stims used to motivate me, though these day that's rare. RC stims are so, so much cheaper than cocaine and that's been a touch problematic for me. I hit the bottom not long ago, however, and am getting back to where I need to be little by little.

Oh man...my music tastes are incredibly broad. These days I tend to listen to a lot of modern stuff in the jazz, electronic, and instrumental hip-hop genres but you could honestly find me listening to (nearly) anything when the mood strikes. My only real dislikes are modern radio rock/country/pop/rnb although I do respect aspects of it.

Otherwise, I'm a firm believe that there's no bad style, only shitty bands (which is highly subjective 99% of the time anyway). I have a soft spot for 90s music 'cause I grew up with it and will always jam out to it if I hear it, though admittedly I don't often put a lot of it on. You can never go wrong with Rage, though! I love RHCP, the Beastie Boys, NIN, and plenty of Canadian stuff that probably never made it across the border.

I'm looking forward to spending lots of time here!

Howdy @bongdong! Thanks for popping by my intro thread. 😃

The beer is a love/hate relationship, tbh. I don't overly enjoy being super drunk but beer is one of my absolute favourite beverages and I consider myself a bit of an aficcionado. It's one of only three things I typically drink, the other two being coffee and water. I'll probably give up drinking at some point down the road, at the very least in any non-social setting. I live a block away from a liquor store and am close to 4 others within a 2km radius, including a couple of excellent specialty stores, so that hasn't really helped things. Not to mention that COVID has made brewer-direct beer delivery a common thing here too. Eesh.

Love, love, love the green stuff though. It's probably my favourite mind-altering substance of all time and I've only grown to appreciate the craft side of it as time has gone on. It smells good, tastes good, doesn't keep me up for three days at a time, and has never been a problem for me unlike some other things have been. Plus it's so damn pretty to look at when grown well so that makes it a great photography subject too (and it's teaching me all about the world of macro photography instead of landscape, which is my normal style).

Whatever your preconceived notions of Canada are, I'd say they're probably about half right and half wrong. We're polite enough but have many of the same problems that our neighbour to the south does and a few of our own as well. That aside, there aren't many other places I'd have wanted to be born in (as if I had a say in the matter 😆).

I do play! I've been playing the electric bass since I was in high school and then picked up the tenor guitar about 7 years back. Amusingly enough, I play a 6 string bass but a 4 string guitar because regular guitar always baffled me after years of flat-handed bass fretting. I'm learning the guitar ukelele as a way to eventually transition to a full-sized guitar...talk abut backwards, hey? I can also muck around on keys enough to make music with, though I'd hardly call myself a keyboardist (and certainly not a pianist). I'm also just starting to learn the banjo, and have been slowly working my singing for years. I also hope to someday learn cello but I'll save that endeavour for when I don't live in an apartment haha! How about you?

At least you live in a place where you can go after that, looking for stuff that works or strains you like. I used to have a carefree happy relationship with the green stuff too, but some stupid incident (where another substance was involved, or i perhaps just overdid it with one particular strain, or it was just my mind fucking with me) introduced some anxiety at one point and disturbed this "divine bond" a little bit. But after a longer break, it looks like we can find a way back to each other, at least i'm hopefull. With CBD or simply using another strain its all different, just like old times. But with the plant itself made illegal, this is all a drag..

Ad instruments: That's pretty cool! 🥳 ..i'm kind of envious of people who can play (an) instrument(s). Wish i had learned something in my youth, but it just wasn't happening. I think this does A LOT to ones brain and outlook/perception of the world in general. I learned something later one and was also building quite a few wooden instruments for a period of time (still have most of them), but i'm usually to shy to tell ..cause people find it weird. Anyway.

Cheers
