No need for gravity
each step takes me away
from the clutches of the earth
briefly,
yet each step taking an eternity.
The self conscious form that held me before
stripped away,
in the nether world the dancefloor creates.
The meaning and desperation
the world tries to enforce
lost,
forgotten,
ignored,
defeated- but only for a moment.
Forms dance past me,
swaying hypnotically,
to the deep melodic bass
that swirls through the room-
it reaches out and holds
all those who listen in its force,
its energy.
The music drops away as the feeling flows throughout my body.
It cascades down me-
I float through this watery world created before me.
Its evolution- a new level of awareness-
as my consciousness seems able to reach out to others.
I find a point, that brief moment,
where I am something that has escaped,
there is no need for anything else.
No need for gravity-
I left that on the floor.

HELL YEAH!!! awsome!!

As I told you before I absolutely love it because each stanza is like a stand alone poem in itself.
Stanza two is bound to be loved by cynics such as myself. Succinct and powerful. Especially the use of the word "desperation".
Stanza four was a total mind blow. I think it's wonderful when an artist, especially a poet, uses absolutes. It conveys a sense of overriding power. The line "There is no need for anything else" is just so empowering. Also the diminishment of a what is usually a fundamental force, that is gravity, by playing it down and saying "No need for gravity- I left that on the floor" is a brilliant way to end the poem. Finishing on a high is always much appreciated. I hate being brought back down to earth at the end of anything but your poem left the experience at its peak.
