Gravity bong? (merged)

What is a gravity bong?? Anyone have a link to a picture or video of one, and have you hit one before? Do you like them?
 
A gravity bong is created by cutting a 2 liter plastic bottle of soda in half. You take the upper half and attach a bowl where the cap would be. You then fill a bucket, or bathtub or sink full of water. place the upper half of the soda bottle in the water (cut open side in the water). Then pack the bowl, light it and when you pull up the soda bottle out of the water, the "vacuum" will create the pull. Then remove the bowl and place mouth over the top of the soda bottle. Take a deep breath...enjoy.

gravity bongs rule. i used to smoke almost exclusely out of gravity bongs but it started to mess up my lungs.
 
Thanks a lot guys! It doesnt seem like the smoke gets cooled by the water though oh well.
 
The stem is just because most people don't have a bowl that fits snugly on a bottle, so you take a regular stem and bowl from a bong and stick it through the cap of the bottle and insulate it with chewing gum or something like that - you then just screw the cap on and off to get a snug fit. Works like a charm, even if the stem goes under the water at first the smoke just bubbles up like in a regular bong untill the stem comes through the surface. :)

The smoke isn't cooled as such, but it seems to be really condensed if you do it right - you can take pretty massive hits. But it ain't healthy, and it causes chestpains and worse in the longrun :(

or you get one of those 5 gallon ozarka (or whatever other company) water jugs from the water coolers, cut it in half and make a bowl for the top. go find a swimming pool, use the same method to fill the jug with smoke, but instead of pushing down on it to inhale through the top, just leave it and swim up under the inside.

its like a helmet full of smoke.

man g-bongs aren't worth it, they burn up way too much pot unnecessarily, and dont gimme that "but it gets u more high" crap cuz lots of the weed gets torched needlessly
 
I find that if I only do a g-bong every now and then I get so blasted that I can't see straight. There great for special occacions I think. Moderation is the key folks!
 
bubbly grav bong

You can create a grav bong that bubbles all the smoke through the water with a little effort. There are basically two ways to do this. One involves a small bubbling apparatus, which carries it's own water, at the top of the grav bong. The other design, which is simpler, will bubble through the actual bucket water, but the pull will get weaker and weaker as the levels of water inside the bong and the bucket equalize. Both are marvelous at cooling down the smoke. Try it if you like the instant highness of the grav but not the toll on your lungs! I will leave the actual design as an exercise for the reader, but I can post specific instructions if you're having trouble.

Eh, you're doing it wrong, man. I used to use a GB because it was the only way I could smoke without ANYTHING escaping, I inhaled every last tiny bit of smoke from the bottle and blew it out the window - no sidestream at all. If you catch all the smoke there is no more efficient way I can think of to smoke.

Most likely it wasn't insulated properly, it is supposed to make a very powerful suction when you pull it up even slowly, pulling all the smoke down and condensing it.

Hmmm... Buckets .. The water cooler thing works amazingly, but I find watercooler waterfalls take less time to construct, and get you more wrecked. The only problem is the obscene size of bowl you need to use....
