NEMD Grateful Dead Appreciation Thread

^That Mojo Jam> TOO>Stella is insane. The entire '78 Winterland run is something I really dig.

^ I caught both 10/16 and 10/17 and do give the slight edge to 10/17. My ears are still ringing.

I have an announcement to make that some Deadheads are not aware of! may have been mentioned already but if you go to any Dead show on archive.org that is "stream only" all you gotta do is delete 'details' in the link and replace it with 'download'... then you can, well, download em just as we used to be able to do!

Greatest band of all time, greatest band there ever will be.

Thanks for the info!!!=D

A forum dedicated strictly to live GD I frequent that is filled with GD nerds like my self recently ran a 6 month long session where we all voted for the top 64 shows. Each era received so many votes. Not many of the shows I voted for made the list :(

If anyone is interested, the forum URL is lostsailorpub.forumup.it
It's a lot of fun, features some very knowledgeable heads!
I am a huge 1978 fan and I think 11/20/78 sort of sucks:|
Also can't beleive 6/17/91 is the only show from a smoking hot year....all mainly due to an opening Eyes, big whoop ;)

These dudes haven't played The Eleven in 40 years, and they're rocking it out so hard in a such a fresh new way, its unbelievable. I'm so glad they brought back The Eleven! When I see them on NYE I hope hope hope hope hope they play The Eleven. Its my favorite song ever. :)

Furthur isn't fucking around, its obvious they're 100% committed to taking this music to the next level. This is like some kinda deadhead wet dream come true, the magic and energy is just undeniable. So much better than The Dead (and the Dead's run this year was incredible).

What he said. This band is the real deal. It is gonna rock!!!

Can't wait for the shows to start, just so I can hear recordingsI didn't even bother with 'The Dead", except for some cherry picking of select songs...i'm not even kidding when I say I prefer Furthur more so than say, 65->'70, '84->'89, and '94, '95 GD=D

Dare I say Jeff Chimenti is more exciting than Pig, Keith, Brent and Vince? He's not better than Bruce though.

TC was cool in Mountains of the Moon, Cryptical and Dark Star, that's it. But, very cool and it's too bad he was such a square.

The first ever officially licensed Grateful Dead sample has been granted to Animal Collective. I'm not sure how many Dead fans will like AC, but apparently the Dead like them quite a bit. Unbroken Chain can be heard in AC's new song, What Would I Want Sky.

That's really cool.. I love Animal Collective, and I had no idea that they'd never let anyone sample them before

Viola Lee muthafuckin Blues... Turn on your Lovelight. Death Don't Have no Mercy. 65 - 70 ftw. Pigpen was great!!!!! got that rawww blues sound.

R u THE Trey Anastasio? Woah!! I would imagine with the legal problems he got into with all the xanax, vicoden etc it wouldn't be a stretch for him to actually come here. Not to mention all the acid he must have done. An acid trip gone bad is what landed me here.
I'm still listening to China Cat Sunflower. There are so many good versions!

stagger lee is my favorite dead at the moment... DSO is my favorite band you guys fuck with them?
