NEMD Grateful Dead Appreciation Thread

my dad asked me if i wanted to see the grateful dead when i was in the first grade
i was like sure
we get there , we were a few rows back from the stage
after a few songs i was like when they gunna play run to the hills ?
my dad was like you got the wrong band you be a deadhead now
im like what,? dont call me that, i couldnt read at the time and assumed from iron maidens record covers
with all the dead people and eddy, that that was the greatful dead

on the plus side, all the hippy chicks were passing me around like a spliff
giving me hugs and back scratches, they all took turns giving me snuggles, shit and this was before E blew up. whenever they would catch a balloon or beach ball they would give it to me, and i would wapp the ball on the stage trying to hit one of the band members, i appreciated the snuggling and the back scratches more than the music :)

Sorry, I'm not adding more than this, but I was just SO delighted to realize that so many Bluelighters are Dead heads as well! Thank you, and keep this thread going!

Me too!!!

BTW, yesterday March 11, FURTHUR announced 2 dates at Shoreline (Mtn. View) in June, and 2 dates at the Greek (LA) in October. I'm so there.

Nice to see that not everyone is obsessed with psytrance 8)

warren haynes during the second set tonight. steve molitz last night for a couple tunes.

i have heard the first 4-5 shows of the tour and all of them have been consistently good. much like i imagine the dead themselves might sound today, had garcia given a shit anymore. i am not sure i am really into the abbey road thing they have been doing, although it hasn't been bad - it's just that i would probably rather hear them play a dead song.

Man, I wish I was on the east coast for that run. It was super tight from what I've heard...

Hopefully they'll do a good summer run, or some more colorado dates. They are really fuckin' good these days, I will gladly pay to see as many shows as I possibly can. I hope to see some more obscure songs/JGB songs thrown in there.

i ended up going every night at the tower except sunday. i think friday was the best night. saturday was a reminder what stupid lyrics looks like rain has. tuesday was solid. shutting down scarlet -> fire on wednesday was awful.

There needs to be more GD on Rock Band, even know there is prolly more dead content on there than any other band.
Also over all, there songs are a lot more fun to play than most of the other bands on there.

My favorite ones to play atm are China Cat Sunflower, Alabama Getaway, and Cumberland Blues.
Here is a vid of someone playing Cumberland Blues. It's prolly one of the most difficult imo

There needs to be more GD on real guitar, because rockband and guitar hero are totally gay. (Maybe I have that opinion because I actually play guitar and can't have fun with rock band, or guitar hero.)

I have a friend who is helping develop a similar guitar game except it won't be gay, it will have every note on the fretboard.

But back to my point, that's really gay, why don't you just play real guitar? (if you're into the dead at least)

Did you guys know that some people actually think that they are cool because they are so good at guitar hero? I encountered this at one of my friends friends houses. I fucking hate that game, I hate all of the stupid little plasticky noises when people play it. just about everything about that game annoys the living shit out of me.

Not saying that you are one of these people Bill 8).

Maybe I'm just mad because I can't play guitar hero. :P.

I do have to say, that guitar hero shit is pretty damn gay.

There really is no place for that shit on this thread.

omg its gay.

That Knickerbocker stretch was my first tour. I was so gay in my new Birkenstocks. Pretty good shows. The Hamilton shows blew them all away cept for the New York shows with Branford Marsallis, that shit was hot, doin his tribute to Coltrane.

yea, i've never been a fan of guitar hero, i was just bustin dudes chops.

anybody in NYC on sunday? this looks great.
