Hey all, I am currently doing my degree in Visual Communication and was curious if there are any other Bluelighters (or Greenlighters) out there doing the same thing? And if you are, have you put up a website of your work? I always enjoy checking out other peoples work as they can offer great sources of inspiration to my own work. I myself am trying to get my act together and put some of my nicer works up on a website.

I started out majoring in graphic design, but ended up finishing my degree in Business Admin. I wish now that I would have finished it in graphic design :) My dad designs websites for a company called Internet Software Technologies(or technology) and gets to use his degree everyday........unlike me!

That's a shame man. You should try freelancing in your spare time when you can! Nothing like getting a little creative every now and then

lol that's funny, same here, but I'm glad i left graphic design

I guess I do graphic design....I work for a food packaging manufacturer in the graphics department. It's mostly pre-press but occasionally we get to break out the creative skillz.
I draw in my spare time and do design for friends so that's my area of expertise. I have a blog http://kittysdrawings.com but its mostly illustration.

The way I got where I am is through a trade apprenticeship - placed in the company I work for through a group training organisation - I went to school in two week blocks, 3 times a year for 4 years before my placement company hired me officially.

My blog is the place to go for the stuff I do - it's by no means completely polished. I wish I had the web-knowledge to create something slick, and I have this weird phobia about asking someone else to do it. Think I see it that I should know this stuff being a creative! Ha! But damn, I hate code!

I'm a freelance designer, mostly interactive/web work. I got my degree in Fine Arts / Graphic Design. No recent portfolio to show, I'll put one together when I want back into the full-time work world!

Good luck with your degree. Here are a couple sites for inspiration:
