gov owns patent to cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants

This doesn't fit into our guidelines. (A link to them can be found in my signature.)

I'm gonna move this over to CD. Apologies if it doesn't belong there either.

Is this the silver bullet against the whole schedule I argument?

Fucking hypocrite crooks. Jailing people over this as if marijuana has absolutely no medical value - federally!

I'm not certain, but I bet this topic would absolutely explode (or at least be news to many) if it were put on the front page.

yeah i learned this a few months ago and was just blown away by the hypocrisy. What do you expect though... the DEA agents are required by law to refuse any medical or positive claims concerning schedule I drugs. So the DEA says no medical value and the feds know it's bullshit, so patent the technology and keeping it out of the hands of private business.

Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a useful medicine safe for humans, legally prescribable by virtually any medical doctor, since May 31, 1985 (as synthetic "Dronabinol"), and in 1999 synthetic THC was downgraded from federal Schedule II to Schedule III due to a solid safety record and lack of abuse.

Which means that THC is currently listed in BOTH federal Schedules I AND III (and so is GHB).

Tack on the fact that Cannabis was listed as a useful medicine in:

THE PHARMACOPOEIA OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,

Revisions 3 through 11 (1851, 1861, 1875, 1882, 1893, 1900, 1916, 1926, and 1936) (CLICK HERE FOR IMAGE SCANS)
