Down the rabbit hole
I just bought a bottle of 475mg certified Gotu Kola caps. There is a lot of information on the internet about this being used for everything, from a mood stabilizer, opiate detoxification supplement, to anti seizure med, to anti-anxiety med, and even a remedy to live longer.

Now, I am skeptical of every otc supplement and herb (besides phenibut and whey protein :p ). I tried many for my anxiety with no luck.

BUT this is different. I popped 10 capsules and felt amazing! The one thing I could compare it to is a Lyrica high without the stumbly drunken-ness. I can think clearer, feel calm, even have a mood lift. It's not like an opioid, omg I'm so high and love everything high, but everything feels fucking OK.

It's definitely not a placebo I am feeling... there are many reports of this herb online, just type in 'gotu kola forum' on google and see for yourself. This isn't something that only works for 10% of people, from what I see... 80-90% of the people who used or are using this actually FEEL effects from it.

I think you BLers have to check this out.... how is this unknown to this forum?!?!?!

Anyone have experiences with it?

I am too... I don't even care to live 'longer' than I should lol......it's an Indian herb and used for just about everything it seems. I am buzzing right now on it... extremely relaxed, focused, happy... How are we all not aware of this stuff? I can kinda understand as I think lots of natural things are ineffective or not actually 'felt' by the user... but man, this stuff is something else.

Gotu Kola is GABAergic, they're not 100% sure how it works but the working theory is that it works on glutamic acid decarboxylase, thus increasing the conversion of glutamate to GABA.

Here's one reference: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18066140

I would be careful with it, Valerian has the same action and it has a withdrawal associated with it that is not unlike benzos. That is, if you get the good stuff. I found some 70% valerenic extract online and I was using it for awhile and when I ran out, I had to hike my Xanax up for a month.

Just about anything you find that has a calming action has an effect directly or indirectly on GABA.

Funny you should mention that; I've been looking for natural GABA-genic drugs lately, and my interest is piqued. Thing is I have a big phenibut problem (12 grams a day), and I've been looking for something to replace it with-right now I'm cycling it with benzos which is risky. As kava is banned in my country, I might have to try some of this gotu kola
