Got sunburned on MT 2 - how's this possible?

Had a nice base tan going - spent the last few days enjoying the encroaching summer - and BAM, look in the mirror just now - and my shoulders are the colour of ham.

I thought once I had a base tan, I could avoid this?

I'm not dosing it daily since getting a base tan - normally just a couple times a week at the moment.

Maybe I just overdid how long I spent in the sun?

Is it necessary to dose daily or always dose before sun - even after a period of use already, with an existing tan?

I've come to the conclusion - the first vial I got was good - the second is bunk.

Which is why I got burned.

On the hunt for another vendor now.

Can anyone recommend a current UK supplier that ships quality MT2??

Why would you think that just because you had a bit of base tan, you wouldn't get burnt? It has nothing to do with the MT2 - the darkness you achieved represents the amount of solar-ray intercepting pigment you've built up, but it doesn't matter how dark you are as a naturally pale white person, it's only going to marginally increase your tolerance to the sun. You need suncream just the same as usual.

Lol is this serious? I’m naturally dark without a tan and even with a tan (at which point I’m really dark for a ‘white guy’) I’ll still get burned if I get too much sun of course. Use sunscreen. Extra tan isn’t worth the damage

Black people get sunburns and they have the highest concentration of melanin. I get Mexican brown on mt2 but I can't stay out in the sun for more than like 5-6hrs or I'll still burn. Especially if swimming.

So - how does this work;

I inject MT 2 and spend a limited amount of time in the sun to get tan - and once I've got enough exposure to tan - then it's sunblock time for the rest of the day.

Something like that?

I thought perhaps it was a case of my not having injected enough MT 2 previous to sun exposure was why I got burned.

So is the idea - get in the sun with MT 2 in the system - but only for limited amounts - after which it's sunblock time;

Extra tan - I'm just trying to get my head around this process.

I go to sunbeds - which have insanely high UV ray output - with no sunblock.

But when in the sun - putting on sunblock?
What like - factor 30, factor 50?

Hold up hold up - If I hit a hefty dose of MT 2 - that avoids the necessity for sunblock - for at least a couple hours of blazing sunshine - right??

But - without MT 2 in the system - it should be sunblock time.

Have I got the general idea?

Mate, I know you're a smart chap. Forget about MT2, that has no protective effect, it's just a drug that works to increase production of skin pigments (the stuff that does help). Instead, I suggest you do some reading about how UVA and UVB work on the skin. UVB, the stuff largely not emitted by a sunbed, causes most of the sunburn. UVA, the stuff emitted by the sunbed, causes more of the skin ageing effect (and the tan). All to do with the wavelength of the light.

You still need to apply suncream with good UVA + UVB protection right from the start of your exposure, just like everyone else, and only continuously expose your skin to the sun for very short periods of time. At other times, get in the shade and wear a hat and total sunblock on your ears, nose etc.

^That. Just because you have a tan doesn’t mean UV isn’t damaging your skin regardless of MT2 or not. Sun/UV = Sunscreen.
