In Canada, doctors are terrified of prescribing opiates. Half of it is for good reason - they can easily lead to life-destroying addiction - but the other half if just plain fear, the typical Canadian fear of confrontation and directness of any kind. So even getting prescribed Tramacet can be tricky.

lame. That's socialised healthcare for you though.
Don't wanna treat people for their addiction to pain treatments, LOL. in a "public" system, they're more inclined to just leave you on your ass to deal with shit yourself instead of sucking you into this endless loop of pharms and surgeries, which they do in the US explicitly to make money..,
of course tramadol and codeine and such are nothing when you've done H or dilly or oxy before...but they still get you high, albeit in a teasing sort of fashion...
I'm being prescribed tramadol for pain, and although it helps immensely for pain (AND depression - who'da figured???) , I find the jittery side-effects of it much more prominent than the side effects of traditional opiates. I don't see why tram is unscheduled, while even small amounts of codeine, in Canada at least, are fucking Schedule 1 (narcotic class!). Doesn't make a lick of sense. Hopefuly some doctor will see the light of reason and give me an equally or perhaps even more effective analgesic (not an NSAID, since stomach and intestinal diseases run in my family, for fucks sake) like hydrocodone or - dare I hope - oxycodone.
