Hiya, hiya. Yes, I have gawdawful anxiety first thing in the morning that gets better in the evening. I'm trying everything that sounds good, but everything so far has been a clunker. N-a-selank, memantine, abrizzia - nothing works and I'm going broke. Oh yeah, I've done the SSRI thing, the atypical antipsychotic thing, the benzo thing, the gabapentin thing. Am about to jump on the etifoxine bandwagon and I wonder why. I think I have a high copper thing. Sometimes ingesting cannabis helps, sometimes not. Sigh. I'd like to get a good night's sleep too. There's a medical term for excessive sleepiness - narcolepsy. I wonder if there's one for excessive wakefulness? Glutamateus maximus? 8o

Hi,

Welcome to BL!
I had anxiety most of my life and medicated for it. I was diagnosed with Excessive Wakefulness Disorder as a child. You are not alone. I hope you find a healthy remedy that works for your anxiety sooner than later.

Please feel free to ask me any questions about the site. Great to have you here! :)

Thanks for the welcome, Smoky. Excessive wakefulness disorder, huh? Google-ing didn't turn up much. I can remember looking at the bars in my crib for long hours as a wee one (I can remember many things prior to age 2) and thinking "OK, what now?" Lying there for what seemed like eternity as a child listening to the adults cavorting over at my grandmother's. I've always thought it was more than just restlessness. I'd really like some more info on this if you can provide it!

Heya!

I'm really sorry to hear that you've tried so many different options and haven't found any success. I can't really offer much advice unfortunately, aside from maybe a few herbal remedies I use for my anxiety. I can't imagine drinking lavender and kava extract is gonna magically work better than a bar of Xanax though.

I truly do hope you're able to find something that will work! I have close friends and family who've suffered from sever anxiety disorders their whole life, and I recently experienced the feeling firsthand through alcohol withdrawals. I never could have really understood what it felt like without going through it personally, and I would never wish it upon anyone...

Again, good luck in your search! There's bound to be a solution out there that'll work for you, and you're definitely in the right place to get helpful suggestions.

That resembles a lot of my childhood. I recollect a bit from my crib as well. For me it could be from some trauma going on in the home between mom and dad. I don't know for sure. I am going to do some EMDR soon and go back to place in time with my doctor. I was also up at night just listening to the noise. I hope you have found some relief or do soon. Insomnia is awful.

Here are a few simple articles that start with children for current diagnosies. http://www.uwhealthkids.org/cf-center-sleep-medicine/pediatric-sleep-disorders/34293
Here is one that might or might not relate, that I have had also from depression and feeling stuck. Although this might be more intermittent. It was recently in the Huff Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rubin-naiman-phd/tired-wired_b_5163844.html
I was later diagnosed with adhd and took Strattera. It knocked me out for a few weeks, before it started working at a stable level. But, that's just me. :)

Morning Daily dose of Oxazepam and night time Mirtazapine has helped me out of sight, the trick with anxiety is to keep it in check and not let it snowball into madness then medicate.

HI, I have had very bad anxiety as well as depression and what really helped wonders for me was taking fish oil capsules (high dose, daily), sunlight/vitamin D, light exercise, and keeping and maintaining a peaceful mind. Now that is if you don't want to use medications but I swear by it for the long-term. All in all I recommend taking fish oil, heaps of benefits and hey! omega 3 is essential ;) lol.

Try pregabalin (lyrica). I have been prescribed it for pain, but it has changed my life. I'm constantly happy and smiling. I didn't know I had anxiety, but now I'm less shy in public places. I used to avoid talking to people, now I engage often.
