Good places to drink, eat, pass time, go see etc in Camden?

Booking my travel ticket for a gig coming up in Camden but as my cash is limited I got some weird times I gotta travel so it means during the day I've got many hours to kill before the gig & I gotta find a way to spend my time around Camden.

Anyone know of anything decent to do around there during the day & also somewhere you can drink after 11pm on a Wednesday night?

Camden market is quite cool iirc, and the bars are quite grotty, which is good, but I think it's rife with twats in places too.

The market is meant to be famous, I've not been to London that many times (the last was to visit The Tate Modern for a Daido Moriyama show) I get the feeling certain parts I could quite like. Grotty bars are fine with me, I'm not into these posh places where they only serve limited edition Ale & stuff like that, I'd prefer some ramshackle bar that sells cans of K cider kept in a ice box behind the bar & nobody blinks an eye if you start doing nitrous oxide.

Going to some place called The Underworld, 174 Camden High Street to see Eyehategod (New Orleans Sludge metal band)
On learning about this venue & looking at their website they have some really good bands there, I think I'll be going down south a lot more in the future.
