Taking the advice of the lovely pop-up welcome message and introducing myself here. I've read this forum for probably 10 years but only decided now to become an active member. I've been riding the see-saw of on-the-wagon, off-the-wagon for the greater part of 8 years and feel I may have some input. When I refer to my problems I should specify that it is primarily the cocaine/alcohol duo (notoriously deadly, but also likely to make you Mayor of Toronto). I've tried most everything else other than heroin, as I've had a few too many friends/family go down that route and I see the consequences.

Are you hoping to quit the alcohol /coke combo for good?

Are you experiencing negative affects of their use that you aren't really able to manage anymore?

Thank you both for the reply. As for your comment, Fox, it's really more like I feel like I've gotten to a point where (though by no means perfect), I have enough history to help out around here. Usually around this time of year I'd be ramping up to prepare for the New Year celebration, but over the last year I've gradually scaled back and now looking over the past realize what a mess I can be. I think these forums have a dual purpose for me - reminder to stay on the up & up, and help to others.

The Toronto mayor was the one got indicted for smoking crack a few years back, the big fat guy.

I think I originally joined after my horific medical experience with a high dose of ketamine & I was lookin for answers.

Then like you, I realized I had a *decent amount* of life experience and recovery advice I could Lend to others who'd had addictions / depression/ unresolved losses / various other things. so I see where you're coming from there .

It's good to meet you. Hundreds of threads where everyone contributes their own experience, advice, opinions and suggestions. I pop in somewhere on the site almost every day now. So I'm sure we'll see each other around !
 
Thank you Fox for the welcome! I'm sure I'll see you around, though I'll but my head out of anything I'm not directly involved in. Given the amount of oxy, prec, and heroin going around I'm not sure how useful I'll be, but where I have input I'll surely jump in.

Great to see a new member at Bluelight. Hope you've checked out the other forums, and hope to see you around posting and getting involved with us all. We have a lot of social forums which have nothing to do with drugs, so check them out.
