I moved to New York City recently and as a result of a high-pressure job have developed high anxiety, which I've been prescribed Xanax for. Back home, I was taking Adderall in order to help me work and write, but I'm concerned that my current psychiatrist will be unwilling to prescribe Adderall while I'm on an anti-anxiety drug. Should I go to another psychiatrist for Adderall? Is information about my prescriptions synchronized in any way between psychiatrists, my healthcare provider or pharmacies?

I get my clonazepam for panic attacks and social phobia (which still works amazingly after years of daily use - contrary to many BLrs certainty that this is impossible) from my psych and my 60 mg a adderall from my fam doc. She knows but he doesn't. (Pretty sure shes just glad to have me) It depends on if your doctors are in different hospital "networks" and systems or not here.
Since its different class of drug it shouldn't alert the pharmacy system of your state like it would if you were getting more than one source of either from different docs and pharms.

The ARRA The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act iirc 2007 or 9 was implemented for universal access of medical records. I think psychiatrists can access your history since then, but another psychiatrist cannot actually view any personal communications or documentation of communications ought I say?… between patient and doctor without an roa.
I would advise against it as Hood mentions, but just wanted to inform you of the law that would affect your decision somewhat to do this. If you were to seek out a new doc.

These days prescribed narcotics are closely monitored so you will most likely run into troubles doing this sort of stuff if not now in the near future as each state is implementing tougher regulations for narcotic drugs one by one.
