Opioids Going Into WD Sooooo Soon after Shooting Opana IR??

Hey guys, I'm a little confused here.
I have been dependent on opioids for about 5 years. All different opioids. Sometimes it will be subs for many months at a time, sometimes IV dilaudid.

Anyhow, for the past few months I have been maintaining on Opana IR via IV usage. I shoot about 6mg at a time but what baffles me is that I start to withdrawal literally between 2-3 HOURS after my last shot! Is this normal?? Even with dilaudid which is a very short acting drug, I wouldn't kick until 8 or so hours. I just can't believe that I'm starting to sweat and get creepy crawly within 3 hours of shooting.

Also, I had a question about switching back to bupe. I'm ready to get off Opana and go back to bupe but I'm worried about switching back in terms of PWD. I know you are supposed to wait until WD sets in, but since WD is setting in a mere 2-3 hours after dosing, im really worried this won't be long enough. Even though i am def in WD by the fourth our after dosing my Opana, it scares me to take the bupe so damn soon after my last dose.

Any insight here?

According to Wikipedia oxymorphone has a half-life of ~1.3 hours administered in any route other than orally. Provided that information is correct, it would be natural for you to be feeling withdrawals in 2-3 hours.

As far is the buprenorphine goes, since the oxymorphone has such a short half-life I would hold off no more than 24 hours to avoid any chance of precipitated withdrawal.

as above. what's the medical standard for elimination? seven half lives? i don't want to set you up for PWDs, OP, everyone's body is different, but given this, i'd expect you'd be more than safe starting out on your subs as soon as 8-12 hours out; i don't think you necessarily need to suffer for 24+ hours. i've jumped at only 14-16 hours to subs from (sniffed, not IV) dope and that's got a way longer half-life than oxymorphone. you can also cover yourself a bit more by doing a slow(er) induction with the bupe: not sure what you normally take, but instead of taking your entire dose N up front, take N/2 or N/4 at a time, waiting an hour or so between doses to see how you feel. or, if N is very large (16 mg+) maybe do a few 1 mg tester doses up front first and waiting a bit before taking the rest. if you start to feel ill, you can back off the suboxone and wait a little longer till your next dose. good luck!
