Going back to finish my Degree at age 40: Civil Engineering or Computer Science?

Yes It s hard for you to do, poor baby. Someone give him his bottle back
I don't even know who you are and you're trying to force me to like your comments? I only react to comments I find interesting or funny. I don't read all comments either FYI, its not that i got something against you but you're a joke if you're gonna start begging for reactions. OK?, now let me smoke my cigarette in peace.✌🏾 😄 🤣 😂

I apologize for having sullied your thread. I have an uncanny ability to pick up on people's feelings or maybe it's esp. That was wrong of me. You have high goals and that is good. This is the first time I have ever been on any type of forum. No Facebook or anything. I know me and so does my son for he told me don't go on any site, you can't handle it. I thought I could. I guess not. I'm surprised a mod. hasn't spoken to me.
You’re good. I tend to ignore other people’s drama on here (and in life, for the most part). Life’s to short for all that, besides I have enough of my own personal drama to focus on 🤣 Thank god that aspect is changing for the better, finally! Thank you abilify!

Thank you for understanding.
Anytime.
I am happy things are going better for you. My hubby was just saying building is hot, look at all our neighbors who are builders. A ways from us bc we are in a spot of farming (corn, wheat) still going on. The big farm implements going by at times. Then the animals head over here ! We had 5 raccoons on our roof and one time a herd of cows in our front yard !
Yeah, it’s a good market to be in from a developers standpoint, especially in Columbus, the Housing Market is going ballistic and likely won’t change anytime soon. Columbus is an awesome City, everyone seems to be figuring that out…

Oh, I think cedar point. These people and carnival ride accidents is sad. I wonder how the last boy who was 14 weighed about 250 slipped out of the seat. He even told his friend he wasn't going to make it. I enjoy looking at homes for sale. Wish I could have been a realtor. I was a lowly nurse. My days women were teacher or nurse
lowly nurse!! thats an amazing profession

Hi Robi, I guess you saw all that went down. That made me feel so bad I have just stopped shaking so bad. With my health and age, I'm not used to someone talking to me like that ! My next decade is 80 ! But I don't feel like it. Wasn't good for me or hubby. He IS just about 80. Since I'm disabled I don't have many people in my life. I have just laid in bed all day as usual. I couldn't eat the mac and cheese hubby made due to choking from being upset. You are so kind, you are so lucky to be like that. I'm thankful for you. I think God puts some people in our lives to Smooth the bumps.Love to you ❤
alot of pain in BL i care for you both but i best keep on topic and hope ack, does well in all his endeavors, always free to PM me or talk in mental health or where ever these convos are appropriate

@Our sweetie pie srry to our sweetie pie for being rude without any reason. Srry, it's just that I don't like ppl to tell me what to do. I owe you an apology for acting like that. Rawwwwrrrr 🦁 ♌ 🔥

I'm srry, I didn't know what you've been/are going through. I'm not a bad person is just that I didn't know u and thought u were trying to boss me around or something like that. I'm disabled too and I'm only 27 years old. That doesn't justify the fact that I acted like a dick, that's why I'm asking you to forgive me and if we can start from scratch. :) cheers.

Sure ! It took me 20 minutes to type that last post. I am sorry to hear you are disabled and so young. Oh dear, I hope it is something you can recover from. That is not good to miss out on the life you would have chosen to live. But still, you are here for a reason and people care about you and vice versa. I will pray for you too.🤗
Well, I've been bedridden since my bday 2020 at the peak of the pandemic. I don't think I'll ever be able to walk again, tbh idk maybe science gets to a point in the next few years that I can heal but right now I'm aiming to at least get to a wheelchair ♿.

How the fuck am I Hurtful? Are u 10 years old? You know how lame it is to be asking 👍???? And why am I supposed to 👍 if I don't want to? You're a joke, Grow up for real.

he's all he's doing discomombulated word salad telling other ppl same shit meanwhile he swims in irony

@Our sweetie pie

and like others said, don't do this i think thinkin twice is the way to go for anything.

A degree in Civil Engineering has very specific—some might say limited—potential for application in the future, be it post graduate degree work or gaining experience with applied education (think: residency, doctoral degree, that sort of thing). Computer Science can fit in just about anywhere and leaves the most doors open. Plus, betting on technology is usually a pay-off. Jobs pertaining to Computer Science are not going anywhere, and having a good fundamental grasp on the concepts of object oriented program versus procedural programming, manipulation of large data objects, passing by reference vs. passing data, variable scoping, linting, on so on & so forth… it will give you an advantage for quickly learning new coding & programming languages in the future, but at the expense of unneeded general education credits and unnecessary electives.

Civil.. environmental eng is what I studied... a ton of shit needs fixing in the US.. can't see you won't have any trouble getting work. Might do better getting into the actual construction as computers will likely wipe out the engineers for many traditional projects.
Yeah, there's a Civil/Construction hybrid program I'm looking at right now.

But looking at the curriculum, gah! I would so much rather go back to school for Civil Engineering, as I would get to study Chemistry, Geology, Physics etc in addition to Hydraulic Engineering (which I almost went to School for originally).

I mean I'm good with computers, real good. I'm not some guru, necessarily, I can't code, (well sort of but not really) but I'm rather well-versed in from an IT perspective. That said, I'm just not sure I'd enjoy the coursework involved in a Comp Sci program as much: I'm not sure I would "love" to be an IT guy for the rest of my life. It would be a job, sure, but I wouldn't "love" it. You know what they say, do what you love and the money will follow. I would however love to engineer highways, engineer dams, engineer buildings, that would be awesome. I would also love to learn basically every last GEC course involved in a Civil Engineering program, too.

There is one IT job I would love to do, and that would be working for the @CIA hacking cell phones, infrastructure systems, IOT devices, vehicles, like all the crazy Vault7 stuff they do. That would be an AWESOME job. That said, I doubt I'd be able to get clearances to work for them with my past history of Meth use and mental illness, along with whatever is in the file they have on me at the moment. Plus, you sort of need to be gifted in IT to work for either the NSA/CIA, and while I'm far from stupid, I'm not gifted in IT, and likely never will be.
