Giving Blood

yo, i have a friend who wants to donate blood; but smokes weed daily. Can he still give blood? does it matter?
 
Yep, in my country you have to fill in on the form if you've ever injected or snorted anything, and IIRC, if you used drugs recently. When the doctor asked, I said I did snort a line of ketamine the day before and smoke weed daily. She said it was fine.
 
could be a moral issue if anything. some faithful people live their lives avoiding all drugs including caffeine, and if they get your thc saturated blood, there goes there morals.
 
^I think thoes morals are more against the mind-altering, as opposed to simply having it in your bloodstreem.

I mean, its not like you get high from your own blood, now is it?

I would be interested to know if there have been any cases of people failing a drug test due to a recent blood transfusion tho.

I couldn't imagine having that conversation with my doctor.
 
thats good to know.

anyone know how long zoloft roughly takes to get out a blood stream? ive been off for a couple weeks now. im fairly certain i cant give wiht a medication such as that.
 
Ask in the appropriate forum. You'll have more chance of someone answering it,

Yes, I was relieved too. I always wanted to give blood to help(I mean, it's the least you can do) but always thought my blood was too fucked up to actually help anyone with. Turns out the only thing thing they don't want is aids-infected blood(hence the did you ever snort or shoot question), I guess they're pretty desperate :)
Also, I can only seem to fill half size bags because my blood takes ages to come out, lol :)
 
I have donated blood with the American Red Cross several times.

Once I asked the nurse point blank if non-IV drug use is a problem. "What, you smoke herb?" (Yea, I said) "No worries."

Then he added, "But if you're gonna smoke up tonight.. you might wanna be sitting down. It could creep up on you fast and make you feel kinda dizzy or lightheaded."

Blaze on, and do good deeds and save lives :D
 
in pretty sure in oz u have to be completely clean of drugs but i was told that along time ago so things might have changed
 
When I lived in the states, smokers told me to stay away from the blood-drive at school. They told me they would test the blood for drugs and arrest u if they find any positives. At the time, I believed it, coz most Utahens are true anti-drug nazi's.
 
Yeah, those crazy Mormons might have done that. ;)

Now what I really need to find is somewhere that pays me for my blood.

lol yeah and the circulating blood is just a place to store wastes, like your bladder? When you have certain levels of a substance in your bloodstream, that's what keeps you high. I wonder if when someone with a monster iv amphetamine tolerance donates blood, the recipient has a pleasant time during the transfusion.

Why would he even entertain the idea? Does he really care about his fellow human being?Ha!:X

I will not donate- not because I dont care but because I've had TATS, piercings, Methadone and other drugs in my system, < 1 yr.
I think its very irresponsible for a person to donate blood when you know damn well your blood is tainted.

Anyone can lie. But why would you?

^ It doesn't matter. Your principals may be fine to you and all, but don't force them upon others. It's not a problem for someone to give his blood when he has smoked weed.

You're implying that it's a bad thing to do, when in fact, it is far from. You've got this different view of reality where you believe blood is "tainted" when someone has smoked weed.. The blood is saving people's lives. The drug concentration levels are nihil. It will not get anyone high, it's not like you give away 6 litres of blood and even then, you wouldn't get someone high.
